V8 for weight loss?

Now, I know it's high in sodium, but my boyfriend wants to get it for me. I'm leaning towards the low sodium option, but is it helpful? I was thinking it could possibly substitute my lunch at school since 9 times out of 10 I don't know what I'm eating in the cafeteria and I get tired of left overs every day. Would it be helpful?

A bottle of V 8 is no meal replacement. You'll be hungry half an hour after drinking it. If you don't want to eat the cafeteria lunch or leftovers, bring a protein bar. They're more filling.

It is good for getting the extra veggies, but make sure you are eating fresh veggies and fruits as well. there is something about getting the "five a day" or more to helping you lose weight. I most consistently lose weight when I am getting 6-8 veggies and fruits a day. I haven't done the v8 thing, but you might try carrying a baggie of veggies and some fresh fruit to help and one ounce of nuts for the protein. If you eat one ounce of nuts, a baggie with fresh broccoli, and a piece of fruit, that will give aabout 300 calories, and it will give you protein, a veggie and a fruit--all quality foods that are natural.

I buy Sandwich things (100% whole wheat--Brownberry is a good brand), and Healthy choice lunch meat. Make a sandwich wh 5-6 pieces of meat (150-160 calories), take some fresh fruit and a baggie of fresh veggies for lunch each day for about a 250 calorie lunch.
  • No it wouldn't be helpful. It's not a meal. It's just juiced vegetables. Could help you get your vitamins in, but that's really about it. It's not even as good as actually eating vegetables, partly because of the vegetables they use for it, and partly because whole foods have things like fiber that are good for you. And you'd definitely be hungry again to replace a meal with something lacking in protein and fat!

The only use I have for V8 is as a base for chili.
