Ive done it! The first time I got pregnant on it then had a misscarriage lost 34lbs in 40 days but gained back about 15lbs while preg, ive tried again but I just can't seem to stick to it ITS VERY VERY STRICT!! It works if you can stick to the DIET and the maintenance part after that other wise you will gain it back and FAST!

I confess to not looking into it in-depth (because I'm not in the market), but the from the little bit that I do know, it basically involves low-dose hormone injections combined with a 500 calorie/day diet. (Right? I could be wrong.)

I guess I really don't see what the appeal could be. I would rather do it the "hard way" I guess: skip the hormones and eat nearly three times that!

Yes, you are correct. Just a way to slim down quick! I can't seem to lose these last 15 pounds! I've been trying for a year now, nothing is working!

I looked into it as well, but decided to hold off for two reasons: 1) I am having reasonable success with 'the old fashioned method' - hard work and cautious eating and 2) cost and discipline - wasn't prepared for either.

My sister just ordered some of the sublingual HCG drops and will be starting the program in the next few weeks. She is very determined when she gets going and is beyond frustrated with the lack of success she has seen in recent weeks (months) doing everything she can think of to make some progress in her weight loss. (Personally I think she doesn't eat enough to jazz up her metabolism but whatever).

I'll let you know how she does - but I expect her to do very well.

I tried the hcg diet about a month ago. Lost 7 lbs in the first week - was doing the 500 claories and the hcg drops. But, I ended up feeling lightheaded one night and ended up in the ER with a rapid heartbeat!! I'm 55 and 5'10"" and 200 lbs BTW. The ER doc said it was too dangerous to be on a 500 calorie diet, but saidthe drops were most likely ok. Was very bummed and had to stop. Now I'm back to doing it the old fashioned way - I should drop 20 lbs in 3 months. I do know a few people that have done the hcg diet successfully though - but it wasn't for me!! Too scary. :ohwell:

    She used evitaminmarket.com
She got the D140 for $24/bottle (2oz) - she said in retrospect she may have chosen a different product than the D140 so do a search on the site before you decide. She said she also got the yerbamate tea and stevia extract.

    Hope that helps!

I went on it 2 years ago for a while. I ended up in the ER with a rapid heart beat. The doc told me that at 5'10" tall, 500 calories were way too few for me. I would never do that again!! Too risky. I do not recommend it.

Not a very smart thing to do in my opinion. Anyone eating 500 cals a day with or without the HCG will lose weight and muscle mass and their health. These have or are very close to being pulled off the market in North America and are a total fraud.

Diet and exercise. Any sensible and smart doctor wouldn't recommend this.

All the weight you lose you will gain back once you start eating normally again.

OK not sure if you have read the other post but HCG diets are illegal per the FDA

    http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm281333.htm

Please read the other forum posting to see more on this.

This thread is almost two years old. What in the world brought it back to life? Especially since there are about a million newer HCG threads in the forums.

    Dear Posters,

MyFitnessPal strongly recommends that our users follow the calorie guidelines automatically assigned by our site, unless they are under the direct supervision of a doctor.
