Which is better to have at breakfast??

I am doing good at not skipping any meals and staying at my calories intake of 1200 a day. I don't have a lot of time for breakfast mon-fri due to work schedule. I want to start drinking either a protein shake or a homemade smoothie. Is one better than the other? Also could I get some of others smoothie receipes. Thanks

Why not add some protein powder to your smoothie? Best of both worlds. That's what hubby has for lunch everyday (smoothie with protein powder, peanut butter, Greek yogurt, frozen banana and milk) because his doc wanted him to increase his protein while he is having chemo treatments.

Depends on what your macros are and if you need more protein (protein shake) or carbs/fibre ... (more found in fruit). Also, which do you like better/find tastiest? If you need more protein but like the taste of fresh fruit, as issyfit below said, you could just combine them.

Smoothies are good...juicing is better. :) Apparently, the moment we aerate food in a blender, it begins to lose it's integrity and nutrition. I do love smoothies, but I juice most every morning albeit a day or two. If you don't have a juicer...there are tons of great smoothie recipes everywhere online. There is a website, "Young and Raw"...they do 30 day smoothie challenge. You have a smoothie once a day for 30 days, they send you a full shopping plan week by week, all the ingredients you need to grab to make the recommended smoothies...and every evening around 6pm...the recipe for the next mornings smoothie comes to your email. I know there are plenty of sites that offer this, but this one, I found awesome. :) Add spirulina powder to your smoothies...a green super food...or a handful of spinach, kale, baby lettuce etc... Awesome for health, get a quick burst of greens in before work! Makes them that much better. Good luck!

I make breakfast smoothies with fruit and unflavoured protein powder. I use frozen fruit, half a banana, some frozen spinach nuggets, powder and water. I measure out all the fruit and spinach into containers on Sunday night and keep them in the freezer, then I just dump in to the blender, add the powder and water, and blend. Takes ~3 minutes in the morning and I drink it on the bus.
