I am a proud mom of 2 sons and 1 daughter, 3 grandsons and 1 great-grandson and married the man of my dreams of almost 29 years after a failed marriage filled with drugs and abuse on my exhusband's part.It has finally come to the surface of my inner most being that I have truly been blessed with a life filled with love and fulfillment, happiness and joy. In order to continue down this path I need to take control and ensure I will be here in good health, body and mind for my family and all the little additions to come.
My grandmother was an amazingly strong woman who was overweight for as long as I can remember as a result of severe varicose veins in her legs after giving birth to eleven children.
In learning so many wonderful things and retaining many wonderful memories of my late grandmother who passed away three years ago this October, I have now realize the one thing she always tried to instill in me in the nicest most subtle ways was that being overweight is not good. It lead her to barely being able to walk and only shuffle around the house from having her leg veins striped in the early 60’s. As a child I can only remember twice that my grandmother ever left the house. She mostly sat at the kitchen table and view the world around her from the inside of a kitchen. This is not what I want for me nor would she. My doctor has told me I am not excessively over weight but would like me to lose 25 pounds to health my continue to control my blood pressure, stress and to be a vibrant grandmother that my grandmother was not able to be, at least not physically.
Out of nine children my mom had I am what my siblings call to this day pork chop while all my 5 sisters weight 98 to 130 pounds and my brothers never have had to fit the bugle. I have always been told I resemble my grandmother in so many ways and this is one way she has said (dear you do not want to be the weight I am.)
I am blessed with an amazingly talented husband, my children, grandchildren and now my great-grandchild and it is not only important for me to feel good, look healthier and weight less for myself but for them as well. You see they too want me to be here to enjoy the fruits of watching my family grow. This is just like I wanted my mom and grandmother to be here for my family for many years of which my grandmother did live to be 97 years old and with all her mental capacity in tack until her passing. My mom on the other hand was an extremely heavy smoker and we lost her way too soon. The loss did break some of us free from the chains of cigarettes for which I know she would be proud of her two daughters that broke the chain.
Soon after my mom’s passing I started to look at my weight problem and lost 22 pounds only to have 16 of those pounds gained back when I quit smoking in August of 2012. My challenge now is to broke the chain of the excess pounds and fulfill my grandmother’s wish for her grand-daughter to be of a healthy weight and to be able to keep up with my grandchildren for so many more years to come.
So I am asking for some friends to help keep me on track, motivated and to also give back in the same. I live in Alberta, Canada and would love to expand my friends on this journey that can only get better with the motivations of others.
God Bless
