I do not have a meat scale and do not intend to buy one as I am afraid I will be come obsessed about it.
But are there other ways to estimate the size of a chicken breast, steak, pork chop, etc.? Size of a softball, baseball, anything?
Thanks in advance for the help

Unless you're blessed with huge hands i tend to measure things in whether or not it would fit in my hand and start there. Far from scientific but its a good way to get a start.0

Ive heard that for meat, the serving is the size of your palm or a deck of cards.0

I go by 4 ounces is the size of a deck of cards.
Oh, and I'm right there with you about becoming obsessed with the meat scale....!0 -
I use a deck of cards as a reference, or, if I'm loading up my plate, I give myself a healthy serving of vegetables and limit my meat to less than half that volume. My mom has her old weight watchers scale, which I do use sometimes, just so I can get a better read on serving sizes.0

I only measure the meat in the scale. I prefer to be safe than sorry.0
