yep. at a bare minimum you should eat your BMR, although more people swear by eating at yout TDEE-20% to lose weight (google both BMR calculator and TDEE calculator to find out your numbers).

i dont know your stats- but i can bet you didnt gain weight because it was so difficult to eat 1200 calories- you gained because you ate too much. we have been told for years to eat 1200 cals- but its not only too low for healthy body functions, its not very sustainable for most people.

use the calculators, up your cal intake, and track everything. be consistent for a few weeks and see the progress.

patience is key-- im learning it myself :) we didnt gain weight overnight, we wont lose it overnight either.

jamiek917, says it all, from my understanding.
Wise words to listen to and follow :)

I never exercised as my job is mainly sitting then eating the wrong foods
and snacking so the longer the better as it will stay off normally
I do quick fixes then put it all on and more so trying to do as a lifestyle
change rather than dieting. Thanks for that will take a look at it. Nikki x

i agree with the other posts, you need to be netting 1200 as a minimum.

1485 shoud be your bare minimum then. each body is different- find what works for you. my BMR and TDEE are similar to yours- right now im sticking to the 1600-1700 range and seeing how i progress.
