Thanks for making the new thread!!! We are now 7 miles from my cousins house - so I guess you'd say we made it safely. Good luck on the weigh-in tomorrow.

    Today's weigh-in: 197.6 (-1.0 from last week)

I'm a bit frustrated that it isn't more, as I did exercise well this week and my eating was pretty much on point overall. PLUS, as I gained last week, this is only a net loss of 0.4 pounds in 2 weeks. ARGH!

I know I'll get there. Just wish my losses could be a bit more consistent. I don't mind losing 1 pound a week if I didn't then gain part of that same pound back the next. :grumble:

I do also know that right around 200 is a weight that my body was at for several years. I think I've mentioned before that I've tended to do my weight gaining in 30 pound bursts, with then staying at a certain weight for years. So 230 I was at for a while, and I was at 200ish for a while. Perhaps my body is fighting me on it? I'm just trying to come up with something, cause I'm a wee frustrated.

i'm 232.6 today. I need to quit slacking off for 5 days, being good for 2 and expecting to lose weight. :ohwell:

    I will keep yesterday's weight of 189.

I've got my running clothes on and am just waiting for the hosts to get up and direct me to the park. Yesterday I came in at 431 over for weight loss or 69 under for maintenance.

Kristina - at least you are headed in the correct direction. And for multiple weeks have stayed under 200!!!

Kendal - yeah at least make it 5 days working hard to 2 days not. All the walks you've signed up for should help get you going the correct direction.

Time here is an hour earlier and throwing me off. I've heard we may go shopping today (*stars in eyes*)... come on people wake up so I can go running!!!

    Morning ladies!

Kirstina - keep going, persevere! It will come off and the fact that you've stayed under 200 is awesome in and of itself! The fact that you've been kicking major *kitten* at the gym on that elliptical is inspirational for me...and it caused me to get moving again this week too! And my legs surely do feel it today.

And you may be right that you are hitting a plateau. Can you try increasing your protein, decreasing sugar, calorie cycling, etc. to see if it helps bump you down in the right direction?

ejm - hang in there and good for you for not getting upset about it.

Deb- the Y experience sounds awesome! I LOVE LOVE the steam room! I could sit in one for hours.

Wearing pants today that are looser in the hips by a good couple inches and in the waist by an inch....even looser than when I bought them! Yeay!

Got my 4 mile jog in and kept up with my cousin's wife (soaking wet she's 120!!) and does run 1/2 marthons every year. Now this was her first run since the fall. She has 2 big dogs and that was a challenge - jogging with a dog that pulls. She actually had to ask me to slow down twice - it felt great. I need to find a running partner that lives close. The 4 miles flew by - and I held a conversation!!!

Now we ladies are heading off for pedicures and manicures. I can't wait.

Checking in Super Pals...Kristina....I feel ya. It was my turn to gain this week. I gained 2 pounds...all that working out this week and I gain 2...hubby and son both lost 1 after yesterday and my hubby had 1 more drink than me!
    Current 206.8:grumble:

I am not down about it though, I know this is just how my body works and if I am to be honest, I see that I haven't been real fantastic about getting in ALL of my protein...I'm going to try to work on that....it does get hard when you add extra exercise! I also had the Mexican and I do believe, I am due to start my period anytime....I sure have broke out on my chin...I hate that, I have never had trouble with acne...until I hit 40 yrs    I also feel very sore from yesterday's workout....could be holding on to some water in those muscles...I might weigh in again Sunday and I'll re-post if it happens to disappear....I take it much better when I maintain...instead of gain....:brokenheart: ...there I'll move on!
Oh a high -five for myself...I didn't much feel like exercise today...but I had an hour on the elliptical scheduled so I made myself get started...told myself if I made it to 3 miles and wanted to quit, I could....well, went past 3...came up on 5...thought about it and decided to just finish the hour for a total of 6 miles...and just a side note Kristina, my elliptical said I burned around 850 calories...I can put in my height and weight also, so yours at the Rec center is probably pretty close...although you are in onederland...I'm a wee bit heavier:wink::laugh: :embarassed:
Need to make a grocery run, the kids wiped me out this week!
Great job everyone for staying at it...
oh and Lacey, HEELLLOOOO, pants that are to big and tiny hips that don't fit in them....Great job!!!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

I bought a little bag of Cheetos. Ate half the bag and threw the rest away. Do you know how hard it is to throw away perfectly good Cheetos? I love Cheetos. I could eat Cheetos every day and never get tired of them.

I will be meeting the bff at the gym tonight to do c25k again. She'll be on week 1/day 2 and I'll be starting week 2. Glad that I have her beside me to push me to do it.

Man I am ready for a NAP. Only 40 minutes left stuck at work and then THE WEEKEND!

Kendal- good luck at the gym tonight! i think that's so great that your bff is doing it with you!! Fab!

Deb- sorry about the gain this week. Uber frustrating! Hoping it's just TOM (i totally break out right before as well) related and perhaps some sodium holdover from Mexican? Sounds like you worked out pretty hard this week, so that's impressive. Way to go on the elliptical- pedaling away! I think the farthest distance I've gone on one is about 5.4ish or so in the 60 min (plus 5 min cooldown- which really for me is more 4 minutes full steam, 1 min cooldown), so you must have been flying on it. Way to go! Glad to hear that the caloric burn on my machines are similar to yours. It sounds about right- if you went farther in distance, you would have burned off more calories. I'm very proud of you!

Valerie- way to go with a 4 miles run! you're a superstar, especially as your on vacation. Love that you had to slow down for your running mate. Isn't running with someone nice? I only did it once with the roomie, but really enjoyed it. As the race is next weekend, we're hopefully going to give the course a test run together this weekend.

How's everyone's weekend looking? Other than the test run on Saturday or Sunday, I would like to hit the rec center once. Also, the roomie and I plan to go old school rollerskating on Saturday. How fun would that be?? We've been talking about it ever seeing "Whip It" last year, and I think we're finally going to do it. It'll be a girl's weekend, as my male roomie is out of town.

No exercise yet for me today- still contemplating doing something or not. I would like to do a run, so I might still go out for a shorter one. I'm working right now on making a big batch of vegetarian chili- it's only going to be cold so much longer, so I'm trying to get warm comforting foods in while I still can. Yeah, so there were intermittent snow flakes this morning. Nothing stuck, but.. NOT COOL.

Great job on the loss mrsmarv!!!

Yesterday was wonderful. I feel so girly and can't stop staring and my fingers and toes!!!! I'm so jealous of anyone living near a Trader Joes!!!! I could live in the store. We are just having a great time anywhere we go. My aunt is 69 and somewhat clueless - we talked the aunt and uncle into joining the family plan of the cousin. The ATT guys were entertained by the lot of us - 6 of went into the store. My not so sober bro wandered in an hour later and the guy couldn't believe there were more of us. Touch screen Internet phones were purchased. Today should be a hoot teaching them to use them. My uncle is 70 and I'm not so sure he was sober when he agreed to it.

Plans for today include taking the furies to the 60 acre dog park, visiting an Andy Worhal (?sp) home, and dinner at the best brewpub - Goose Island. Catch you later.

Morning..m;ust got done at gym. 204.5 still this week. TOM is here so hopefully that is it.

Goal for next week is to go to gym minimum of 4 times for minimum of 60 minutes each. Ibve only been going 3 times a week for three weeks and only burning 350 to 450 and its caught up to me.

Going to take dogs and kiddo for walk today at lake.

    Have a good weekend!

Hi everyone, kinda frustrating week but still when I weighed in at work I was down nearly 2 more lbs so I must be doing something right, right? For some reason today I want to snack all day. I only have 100 cal snacks around but still... empty calories are empty calories.. I'll get it together. Talking ( writing?) about it seems to help. Moving on,., I'm doing a biggest loser thing at work and I went to a meeting last week where I met a number of pretty serious dieters.. They had some great ideas and were putting together a work out group so I switched groups. The one I was in wasn't really taking the thing seriously and I think that's one of the things that's been bothering me lately.. Every time I talk to them they laugh and say they haven't gained anything so that should be enough.. However the name of the contest isn't bigger maintainer now is it? So I decided to move to a group that seems to really want to win this thing as much as I do. Next week will be a completely different story I hope. We're walking M/W/F and working out T/Th so that should ramp things up a bit. I really can't wait!

hi all!! able to check in again on my father in laws computer. didn't get a chance to weigh in, because i can't find the scale....lol
not looking forward to weighing in as my eating has been allright, but not as good as it could have been. also, haven't worked out. we ended up leaving (gasp) the treadmill (it wouldn't fit in the moving truck), but my aunt gave me the value of it so we can get a new one. who knows when that will be. MIL has a elliptical, so i am vowing to get on it tomorrow or monday....
also fighting allergies, or a cold and feel like poop!!!

missing talking to you all each day, i feel so out of the loop.
hopefully we'l get our computers set up soon so i can check in more. love and best wishes to all!!

good evening super heroes! i promised to check in after work so here i am. i had an OK day today. my eating could have been better as i had mcdonalds for dinner. i paid for it later though with frequent bathroom trips and a cramping stomach. but i feel much better now and i have set two official goals for this month. the first is no more sodas. the second is to work out 4-5 times each week except for week ends (maybe). i hope at least to accomplish the no sodas. well i need to get some rest now talk to you ladies tomorrow.

Carolyn- Thanks for checking in. We miss you! I hope everything is going well :)

Lacey- good luck with the upping the cardio this week. I'm hoping to go monday, tues, wed like I did last week again. As Thursdays are still my long day and now my second therapy group will be Friday afternoons, and I'm not sure about how I'll feel getting my exercise on after that. If it's your TOM, that's probably why your weight is what it is. *shakes fist at TOM*

llyndon- talking about the weight loss journey helps keep me motivated as well. I hope the new weight loss group at work helps you out. It's great to have that support. Let us know how it goes!

dixiegal- sorry about the issues after eating McDonalds- had it been a while since you'd eaten that? I've now found that if I eat a big meal of really fatty bad foods, my stomach does NOT like it. Good luck with your no soda/workout goal!

This weekend has been good overall. As my guy roomie is out of town, my girl roomie and I have turned it into a girls weekend. Friday we just watched cracky girly movies (New Moon- had fun ripping it to shreds), and yesterday we went to an old school roller skating rink. Now I've rollerbladed occasionally over the year, but it's been several for that and the last time I put my feet in one of those old rollerskates, it must have been in the early to mid 1990s, but I actually picked it up pretty quickly. My inner thighs are burning a bit today as it was actually a lot more exercise than I imagined. I'm feeling the burn AND had a great time. The DJ was playing a lot of top 40 stuff, but we kept on making older requests. Our first was "It's Raining Men". Classic and completely appropriate for the theme of the weekend. Today, even though my legs are a little sore we're going to test run the Almost 5K course that is next weekend. Nervous! I'm hoping i I run it once it won't be as intimidating next weekend. I'll let you all know how it goes. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Did a 6 mile run with hubby this morning and I feel pretty good. Off to baseball this afternoon, it is our playoff game with this group. Send good thoughts our way...my son will be pitching and I'm sure I'll be pacing:laugh:

Kristina sounds like a fun weekend, my son has been going skating with friend and I think I may have to tag along next time...I can't get that song out of my head now "it's raining men"....  :laugh:Great idea pre-running the race, just take it at a nice slow jog and then you'll be ready to bring it next week...you'll do great!!!!!!!!

I'll try to check in when we get back home tonight...have a wonderful Sunday!!

I just realized I never posted my weight on Friday. FINALLY a significant loss!!! Down 3.3 lbs, and under that looming barrier of 220!! I was very happy. Yesterday I did a 5K with some friends, and while I walked most of it at a fast clip and ran in spurts, it still felt good. I met my goals for my first race- don't be last, finish and finish in under 60 minutes. We finished in 51 minutes. I think races might become addicting for me- trying to improve my time each time. I'm going to start seriously doing C25K again tomorrow. Running is hard for a big girl! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

    Good evening super pals,

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I sure have. Frank Lloyd Wright house tour yesterday and flea market this morning. Oh what good buys!!! We also went to the running store today - I got fit for shoes and learned alot. With 5K distances, shoes can be more forgiving. To increase to 10K or 1/2 marthon training, you want shoes 1/2 size bigger to accomadate feet swelling. For marathon training, you should have shoes 1 size bigger. I also got special wicking sock with 2 layers to decrease foot friction and body glide gel for chaffing. Whole stores dedicated to running - WOW. You have to check one out. My cousins wife is running a half marathon in July. I've browsing her books and mags. Oh - it's addicting. We tan 2 miles today in my new shoes - they felt great. We picked the pace up to 13:20 a mile and her neighbor hood has some wicked hills and the dog pooped twice so the running was quicker than my normal pace. I so want to find a running partner. 2 weeks until my race - I'm psyched!!!

Gotta run since we are headed out for dinner. I'll check back tomorrow on my ride home.

I ate well for once over the weekend. Surprisingly the food I got at Carrabbas Saturday night was actually pretty dang low cal (Chicken Marsala....and it was especially good since I brought half of it home).

Shaun is taking me out to Chili's tonight. Do yall have any suggestions on what to eat there? If not I'll try to find time to look something up this afternoon. Since I won't have time to go to my regular gym after work, I brought workout clothes with me and plan to do wk2/day2 of C25K in the fitness center before heading home. I wish I could do it on my lunch break but I will get WAAAAY to sweaty to have to come back and work. They have a shower that I use, but my hair gets the sweatiest (is that a word? lol) and theres not enough time to wash and dry it. Plus, Zumba is tomorrow so I won't have time or the energy to do it then. And I don't want to wait till Wednesday to do it again since the last time I did it was Friday.

Joey decided to call me yesterday to admit that he actually slept with her. This whole time....4 months that I've known about it, 5 months since it happened, he swore he only kissed her. But he did feel guilty and stopped in the middle of doing it. :indifferent: I told him that was REAAAAL COMMENDABLE of him to stop in the middle. Whatever douche. :grumble:

But I didn't let that influence my grocery shopping later on. I still bought my staple mac and cheese, but thats just a back up in case I have company or I feel like being fat for a night. Plus I got home and realized I still had a box in the cabinet. I feel so incomplete without a box of mac and cheese in the house lol. (and other than Ramen noodles, who can beat $.68 for 2-3 meals??)

I feel like I am kinda becoming addicted to exercising. I feel like I HAVE to go after work every day. It helps that Amber and I are starting to branch out and go to different exercise classes at the gym. There is a hip hop class right before our yoga class that looks like a lot of fun. Plus now that we are both doing c25k it really helps change up the monotany (sp?) of just doing the elliptical. I don't even know the last time I was on the elliptical actually. I think it was when Shaun was there a couple weeks ago. I need to start doing some weight training on my arms so they won't be so fat and flabby all summer long.

Victoria- sounds like you are having a blast! Thats some great info on shoes for running! I never realized you needed bigger sizes.

spfraser- thats great!! can't wait till I get back down under 220! holy cow that'll be amazing! what week are you on on c25k?? Victoria has really been my inspiration to get into running. I'm her size now of when she started 6 months ago so I know if she can do it, I absolutely can do it too.

Deb- woohoo for a 6 mile run!! You ladies are so freaking awesome! I am so glad to have this board for support and motivation.

dixiegal- I hate when that happens!!! Remember that feeling the next time someone asks you what you want to eat. It makes it a lot easier to pass up going through the drive through. It sucks that we sometimes can't avoid it though.

Kristina- HECK YES ON THE ALMOST 5K TEST RUN!!!

I feel like I keep repeating myself over and over....YOU LADIES FREAKING ROCK!!!

Kendal- I think the variety in the exercise and that you're doing it with a friend really helps! I too feel like I should be going to the rec center pretty much every day. I don't, but feel really guilty if I miss more than one day in a row. You'll have to let us know how the hip-hop class is. My gym has several classes, but I haven't been to any yet. I need to figure out some to test out.

So the test run yesterday went okay... not spectacular. It's a shorter distance than I have been running, as when I've been running outside it's been close to 3.5-3.7 miles, but this course is painful. Even my much more in shape roomie who has been running much longer than me was having a tough time. The issue with the course is that it majority downhill, but then you turn around and go back, making the second half mostly uphill. UGH! Some of the hills are pretty gradually, so while I was sort of out of breath, I was okay, but there's one hill right at the 3 mile mark (ouch) that is hella steep. My roommate was wearing a HRM, and hers said her HR was like 185 going up that hill, so I don't want to even imagine what mine was. I BARELY made it up, but I did finish. Whew! Next weekend will be painful, but I'm excited to do my first 5K (well, almost.. I think it's 3.0 instead of 3.1-whatevs).

Eating was good this weekend except for last night where roomie and I demolished a medium veggie pizza. It was SO yummy (spinach, broccoli, ricotta), but the scale didn't like it this morning. I didn't feel terribly bad after the serious rollerskating and running over the weekend. Back to the good eating today (as long as I don't pub trivia it-undecided).

I'm hoping to get my cardio on the next couple of days. Tentative plan is rec center today to elliptical, another 5K run on Tuesday, and a rec center trip on Wednesday. Thursday will be busy for me and Friday is the day before the race... I might do some pilates or something that day. It's exciting, but also daunting. I'm really glad I test run the course though.

Morning! We won't have internet at home again till Thursday, bleh, so I haven't been able to log food all weekend. I ate pretty good Saturday and did a whole lot of snacking yesterday but probably stayed close to maintenance cals at the least.

Today my work is bringing in Hole In The Wall BBQ for us for lunch and I am just praying that there will be some salad stuff I can eat. They have the best fries and fried stuff ever. At least its Monday so if I don't eat too overly bad I will be okay to weigh Saturday morning again.

Goal for today: one hour at the gym working out. So, Mon-Wed and Fri and Sat are my goals this week to go. Thursday is pay day and depending on how much the check is we might go out for sushi but I defintely need to get groceries either way. So that will be my break day.

Isn't Trader Joes awesome! I love that it is a smaller store and yet they have all the good stuff you could ever want. And their prices are comparable to other decent grocery stores...at least in Oregon anyways.

I feel bad not replying to everyone but I've got a ton of work to do so I can't. Sorry!

    Talk later...have a good day! L

Good afternoon everyone!!! So the vacation is over and we are headed home. Long car rides suck. Thank goodness for the iPhone. Kendal - glad your weekend went well and have gun running today. Kristina - hills are killers. Glad you ran the course. You will be great next weekend. Lacey - get to that gym and hope you get salad for lunch.

I ate fairly well this weekend except for the 1/2 piece of cheese cake. It was the beer and wine that put me way over.

My cousin had the running books by John "the Penguin" Bingham. There were some great ideas on running and increasing your distance and training for longer runs. I read 2 of them while there. I also got a begining runner's mag. I'm going to pop for the $12 and subscribe to Runner's World for a year. The books talked about the "taper effect" in the 3 weeks before a race where you obsess over running and buy all kinds of crap for running that you don't need. I have it right now - I so wanted to buy a cute outfit, a water belt and more socks. I'll be looking for a running store near me and a group to train with. When I get home, I'm going to plug info into runnersworld.com so that I can increase from 5k to 10k by June. If that goes well, I really want to try the Detroit 1/2 marathon in Oct. My cousin wants me to visit him in Nov to do a trail run of 5 to 10 miles. I saw a great ratio of 26.2 on a ladies shoulder at the running shop. My dream has always been to run a marathon (*sighs*). Someday, some way, I'll get there.

    Have a great Monday!!!

I've always kinda dreamed of it too. That gave me an AWESOME idea for a reward...a tattoo that says 26.2 and the date you did it. Fancy shmancy lettering, obviously.
