setting and calories

When filling out my profile is it okay not to fill in how many times a week I plan on working out and for how long? I selected light activity and that I want to lose a pound a week. It gave me a daily goal of 1590. I do Zumba 3X per week. Once I figure out how many calories I burn doing that should I just eat back those calories? Any advice would be very helpful. I'm a bit overwhelmed and lost.

Thanks

yes, since you chose light activity just log your exercise when you do it and eat those calories back.

The MFP settings are based on what your job is, so if you sit at a desk most of the day you are sedentary. If you have a job where you move around a lot you'd be lightly active, if you do construction or a heavy lifting type job the you're active. MFP only asks about exercise because it has a counter that logs whether you've hit your exercise goals when you go in to log exercise. It has no bearing at all on your calorie budget.

When choosing your activity level don't get stuck on the idea that sedentary and BMR are the same thing. BMR is the calories you need to stay alive in a coma. Sedentary is just a term meaning you aren't moving around all day at your job. Sedentary still assumes that you are alive and tending to your household, your personal needs, traveling to and from work. etc. It's not laying in bed all day.

The way MFP is set up you would log your exercise calories separately and then eat them back if you choose.
