4.4lbs to go in the next 30 days

I know it's ridiculous, but I have this mental block that I must get to my short term goal of 250lbs by 3/25 (the day Passover starts).

That's 30 days from today and I have another 4.4lbs to get there.

I'm currently working with a nutritionist, eating 2000 calories a day, 165g carbs, exercising by either walking or running 3 times a week.

I've been losing about a pound a week this way - some weeks more, some weeks less. (13 weeks, 27.6lbs)

I have fallen off the tracking wagon because of life insanity but have stayed on course for the most part.

I am curious for your suggestions of how to "ramp it up" to get to the 4.4lbs off in the next 3-4 weeks.

I work full time, plus have two part time clients, plus a family, and I need to exercise too. Oh and sleep.

TIA

  • My most honest advice? Get rid of the mental block :)

Given that you've been losing 1lbs per week on average 4.4lbs is definitely doable but don't obsess over a number too much.
What if you lost 2lbs? 3lbs? Still great!!

    Good luck :)

My thoughts exactly. Stop being a slave to that number/goal. If you keep losing, that is excellent! Just stick with a plan!

Don't get too caught up with the number. It's about getting healthy and staying healthy. Not obsessing over a number. My weight has been coming off EXTREMELY slowly for what I'm used to while doing the same things. I'm not discouraged though. I feel better than ever. My insides are in amazing shape from eating better, and I am always look forward to my workouts, which now consists of hot yoga on a daily basis. I gained a lot of weight since I got married last July, and I want to lose it by this July because we're doing a 1 year shoot - HOWEVER - if I haven't, but I've kept up the great habits? I'm okay with that. and, I think you should be okay, too. Get healthy, stay healthy, the weight will come off in due time.

To lose a bit extra quickly, dropping my carbs from 120 to 80 works for me. If your working with a nutritionist probably best to stick with that though.

Clearly you are on track to hit your goal (or be d@mned close). . .if you REALLY want to push. . .run an extra day during the week. Extra calories burned.

Or, settle on the fact that you aren't running a race. . .any loss is a victory!

More suggestions: do some weight training and not just walking or running. It helps to build muscle which will help you burn through fat faster. Or do some fast pace, incline intervals on the treadmills. Something to rev up your body.

I have been losing my motivation (I just hit 90 days this past week) and am hoping the goal of 250 will keep me motivated.

I just don't want to self sabotage...

This is great long term advice on the weight training, the thing is your weight is going to increase when you start out. Likely not going to help the 30 day goal.

I'd throw the number out the window. That number is your mental block. It's holding you slave, after 30 days are you quitting? Cured? Done? Nope.. Don't worry about it. Motivation? Start with some measurements, once you start seeing those numbers shrinking, that is AWESOME.

Yep, even if you just start by doing a few squats and push-ups every other day, your body will react to doing something new.

I agree, throw an extra day of activity in and you will see more happen. Do you have an exercise dvd? I like to use those when its too late to go to the gym but I want to get up and move a little.

Keep tracking!!! It is one of the best ways to lose weight. I fell off the tracking wagon to a while back. And it did not do me any favors. You do not want to go backwards after all your hard work to get this far along in your journey. Muster up all the strength and determination you can to track, track..track. It will help you succeed.

I despise tracking. But I agree, it definitely helps keep you in check...
