Stevia headaches?

Just purchased Stevia for the first time...

Used it yesterday....had a rotten headache last night. Assumed it was sinus.

Used it this morning... Have a rotten headache.

Googled and saw that some people do have headaches after it....seems I'm one.

Anyone else have problems with it?

I generally avoid sugar substitutes...looks like I shoulda this time, too.

I use Stevia (1 packet) just once a day on my tea and did not get any headache.
How much of Stevia are you using?

I get awful headaches and migraines if I use anything besides real sugar. I thought stevia was a little more "natural" and would be ok (I already know things like aspartame are horrible for me), but I had the same reaction with the stevia as I did aspartame.

I was getting horrible migraines for a while - some of the worst ones I've gotten - and finally noticed that it was the same time I was on my lite vitamin water type drinks kick. Stopped the drinks - migraines stopped.

Yeah, I rather thought the same....stevia was "a little more natural" as you put it.

I won't do sucralose or aspartame or saccharin, et cetera-- but I'd heard about stevia for a while, so picked some up finally...

    Out it goes.

I have never experienced headaches with Stevia or any other form of sweetener unless I consume large amounts.

You could be sensitive to it. Just because it's natural doesn't always mean it's the best bet.

Maybe just use a bit of regular sugar if you can't drink something like coffee without (although the taste does kind of grow on you after a while).

Otherwise, it could be due to something else in your diet, dry air, etc. I know I get terrible headaches and sinus pain if my nose is too dry, if the air is too dry or if I am in a smoky room.

    No yike Splenda, either.

So what about using some real sugar where you can? A little bit doesn't have a ton of calories.

For smoothies, sweeten them in other ways. Use sweeter fruits.. add some honey (which you can use in coffee/tea as well)

You know, I'm feeling stupid-- I'm totally against artificial sweeteners. I do use sugar. I'm trying to cut out gluten, and to cut back on dairy and sugar. I have Hashimoto's and my body turns EVERYTHING to belly fat, no matter how few calories I eat.

So, I figured I'd try this to see....

I'll totally use sugar if I want some sweetness.

Like I said, my smoothies totally suck. Ha--

they're getting better, but I still have a long way to go.

    Thanks for your input--
  • I have concluded that stevia is causing me to have headaches.
    Causation, not just correlation.
I have used stevia on three weekly occasions over the past two years.
Couple days in a row before I put it together (second morning, same result).
    Get headaches/migraines each time (OUCH).
The reason for three times is... I keep forgetting that they cause me headaches.
  • I am so grateful to those who are expressing that they find stevia giving them a headache

I discovered this when i was eating plain yogurt and adding the white stevia powder
    i stopped using it
    and since then
i heard that stevia in the white powder form is processed and many people
use it only in the green leaf powder etc...

so i thought mmmm? maybe that's it?
or am i asking for a bloody headache?

anyone tried it in the green powder all natural form and still have that headache?

its hard to so many to understand when the majority feels like stevia is the most harmless thing since water
thank u for coming forward and speaking your stevia headache
took me such a damn long time to sign up for this bloody diet site just so's i could leave my feelings on a post
i have been using the Gaps diet for ibs and depression etc....
i just tonight learned to make fish stock
i was always longing for that delicious fish soup that felt so nutritious
and made me feel like i had the best meal and without gas and bloating and fully satisfied
    no desire for sugar
but damned expensive in the high class sushi place
so i was able to obtain free fish carcass and i had the most lovely meal of my life
made with my own two hands and it was probably one of the healthiest meals i have ever had
    and it was mostly free
    and here i am
at 3 am rambling on about how stevia gives me a headache
because looking at this womans channel on youtube
    Sarah Pope
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8_wW6TlpLg
    she is my new hero!
hearing her say that stevia is natural gave me that fantasy that maybe.....
but someone talk me out of it
    or?
    back to the drawing board
which is learning to live without sweets
    good idea
    anyone hearing me?
