Losing weight in "chunks"

Sorry about the subject line... Here's what I mean, I average 6-8 pounds of weight loss a month to 5 weeks. It works out to be about a pound a week. But here's the clincher. I tend to lose 4-5 pounds in a week and micro bits of weight in between time. The scale stays solid and then WHAM! It all comes off. Any ideas on why I lose weight this way?

  • This happens to me too! I think it' s because the body is in shock mode. It wants to hold onto the fat in pounds for as long as possible. Then it finally gives in and sheds the pounds. Biology is in play here.

Me too! I've only been on MFP for 5 weeks, but the first three weeks a discouraging NOTHING. Then in the last 2 weeks 6lbs. It averages to a healthy 1lb a week, but it is so strange the way it is coming off.

That also happens to me. Also there are periods of alternating weight loss (lbs going down) and fat loss (inches decreasing). I am certainly not a 2 lbs a week superstar.
