2 weeks 'till 10k - recovery or weight loss

Hypothetically speaking...
If you wanted your best performance in a 10k running race in two weeks time and had a few extra pounds on (say 20 or so), would you:
A) go for a 7000 calorie a week deficit to try and lose 4lb (it's quite a hilly course)
or
Keep your calories up to aid recovery from the 5 runs you'll likely have before the race.
All rather a moot point as I'll likely take the dog, have to wait for him to do his business, clear it up and the like; won't be pushing my times.
(The distance it's self isn't an issue, I'll likely do a couple of 12-15k runs in the next two weeks.)
