protein shakes

So I know it's better to eat real food instead of protein shakes, but how bad is it really to replace meals with shakes? I have one for breakfast mixed with coffee, and then I have one after working out, but sometimes (especially on weekends) i'll have 1 or even 2 more to replace meals and just to meet calories and protein. I mean I would surely go over on other things if i ate all that in regular food I would have to have so many more calories to get the protein (the shakes I use have either 100 calories and 23 grams of protein or 150 calories and 26 grams of protein) so is it really bad to eat like this? i'm a college student and gluten free so finding enough food to eat that's healthy can be hard.

Also (as of yesterday) a college - or Uni - student, and also gluten-free. There's absolutely no problem with having protein shakes, so long as you are in fact meeting your macros, calories and are eating a sufficient amount of whole foods to get your micronutrients in.0 -

This, though I would add this addendum: so long as your sanity would allow it, it's entirely possible to hit all of your macros and micros with nothing but shakes and supplements. It's not a way I'd want to live, but it's perfectly doable.0
