Hi,
I would like to buy a HRM, looking for recommendations. I want one I can put on, push a button to start my workout, and have it tell me how many calories I burned when I am done.
Thanks!

I am looking for basically the same thing. I've heard you can get HRM's now without the chest strap? Any recommendations are welcome!0

The Polar FT4 is easy to use and reasonably priced.0

I have 3 HRMs:
$40 Polar FT1 - Only monitors heart rate, no calories.
$30 Timex Easy Trainer - Only monitors heart rate, no calories.
$80 Polar FT7 - Heart rate monitor, calorie counter, + more.
I had the first 2 before I got the FT7 and the FT7 is amazing!0 -
I use a Garmin HRM, Forerunner 110. It's for cycling, running, walking and exercise. It's super accurate and is very easy to use. The watch comes in girly, boyish and gender neutral colors (grey + color) and other models might have different colorations.
It's a chest strap + watch. Cost me about $200 because it is not regularly sold in Canada for females but the Garmin website for US citizens it is about $179 if I remember right.0 -
I have a polar FT4 but, I bought this one for $20 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004GYW5EA/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for my son to try out to make sure he was seriously going to workout before I bought a better one. Turns out, it keeps count for calories just as well as mine does, it's just not as fancy, pretty simple, but it works perfectly.0

If you have a smart phone, I would recommend the Polar H7, its a blue tooth heart rate strap and allows the phone to do everything a dedicated watch will do but without having to buy yet another watch, especially if like me you are never without your phone0

I second the Polar FT7. It has exactly what you are looking for. You push a button to start and one to stop and it shows you how many calories and total exercise time.0

I just bought this one and love it http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0088EV6XA/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=10

I have a Polar FT7 and love it.
Whichever one you choose to get make sure it has a few things.
A chest strap... otherwise it is not getting a consistant HR reading and may not be as accurate depending on how often you take your HR.
Make sure you can enter your age, weight, height and sex as that will allow it to give you the most accurate burn.0 -
Love my FT70

This chest strap communicates with existing Polar HRM's and iPhones and Androids simultaneously. Pretty cool.
BUT, if iPhone it needs to be a 4S or 5. All bluetooth is not created equally. Check the details if you think about going this route.0 -
Got the Polar FT40 last week - about $80 on Amazon. I am getting along with it very well. It does just what you said you wanted to do. Probably does some things too that I am currently not using but surely will as my ambitions grow.0

This is the one I generally recommend. Do the Fitness Test. Enter in all your data, and then the test is done early in the morning in bed, lights out, full rest. It generally replicates a VO2 Max test. Over time, you will see improvement if you focus on your fitness.0 -
I have the Polar FT 4. It does exactly what you're looking for. Super easy to use.0
