Are there any benefits to exercising and eating back all the calories vs not exercising and staying within your daily calorie limit? I don't mean in health terms, I mean in terms of weight loss, which option will give me the fittest bod and why?

Well, fittest bod explains it right there. You'll need to exercise and yes, eat back the calories.

To lose weight you need a deficit in calories. You can get that by eating less OR adding exercise OR a combo of both. The latter being the healthiest.

Exercise is not necessary to lose weight - that can be done with diet alone, but if you actually want to be "fit" and look good (as in "look better naked")....you're going to need to exercise and strength train....

ETA: you don't have to eat back "ALL the exercise calories" either....everything is pretty much an estimate, but if you're burning a lot, you should eat accordingly, and at least eat back a decent portion of them.
