Hey all, have you read about the new Amiigo? It's a revolutionary new fitness device that ships in June. Unlike popular devices like the Nike Fuel Band, the Fitbit, and others, the Amiigo goes beyond tracking movement and calories. It utilizes the same gesture recognition technology found in many video games consoles to automatically detect the exercise you're doing and log the results.

It knows the difference between running outside, on the treadmill, and on the elliptical machine. It has over 100 exercise algorithms programmed into it with the ability to learn more.

It can tell if you're doing squats, bicep curls, swimming, and more just from your motion. The user does not have to log anything manually. It keeps track of stroke, reps, sets, etc.

It also has a heart rate monitor, an oxygen sensor, and other sensors that help determine the intensity of your workout as well. The company has been mentioned by leading publishers such as Forbes, CNet, Popular Science, Fast Company and others.

They have been funded through a mixture of crowd-funding and venture capital. Their initial crowd-funding goal was $90,000 which they blew through. As of today, they're over $400,000 with a new goal of $500,000 in crowd-funding alone.

You can check out the company on their Indiegogo page here:

I'd be interested to see what you think.
