I am not sure if it is a good thing or bad when the Dr starts off after evaluating you with "at this point" it doesn't appear to be anything surgical....does that mean it could be at some point?!?! I have a knee sprain, no exercise for at least one week, if it isn't better I have to go back for more tests...I asked if I could go back to working out before the week is up if it starts to feel better and he said not unless I want to run the risk of further injury...now I know that this could be worse, however, I am devasted...I have never been more committed to this lifestyle change and this is going to set me back....I really have a reason to be somewhat where I want to be by June and am going to Vegas for a few days in two weeks which will have everything thrown off. I am not happy about this at all!!!! :( Should I cut my calories back to try and continue to loose weight while I can not exercise? Please help!!!!!!

  • You can exercise. Looks like you need to find a doctor who will have more patience with your questions, if you can.

There are always exercises you can do, just avoid putting strain on your injury. Weight lifting for arms will not hurt your knees? Swimming is a great alternative that includes strength and cardio. Look for low impact exercises, and after the week of not using your knee, begin to strengthen your knees, by walking, lunges, etc. Without putting too much impact (running, jumping, etc.)

At this point in your journey, it is mostly your diet that changes things, not the intensity of the exercise, but that you are doing anything at all.
