I have been experimenting with finding alternative smoothie recipes that are a good source of protein, fat and spinach in the mornings, instead of my normal oats or omelet.
This is part 3 of my experiment!

The toughest part is getting a good, stick-to-your ribs texture but this one turned out great. I like mine thick and this one I ate with a spoon.

Into my Ninja, in this order...

8 ice cubes
30 grams vanilla ice cream flavoured whey isolate
1 packet/3g instant coffee
1 pack sweetener (or other sweetener to taste)
1/2 cup/125g pure pumpkin puree
1/2tsp cinnamon
1/8-1/4tsp each allspice, nutmeg and cloves (or some pumpkin pie spice)
70 grams baby spinach
8oz unsweetened almond milk
10g shredded unsweetened coconut (mix in after blending)

Blend all ingredients but coconut until smooth - the ice could take some convincing. Once it's full blended, mix in the coconut with a spatula, and serve it up in a *very* large vessel and devour.

Rough stats with my ingredients - 287 calories, 10g fat, 29g protein, 7g fiber
Totally delicious!

I'll be posting more spinach smoothie experiments in the coming weeks. Part 1. 2 & 3 can be found here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/891105-almond-mango-coconut-protein-smoothie-with-spinach

    Thanks Meag!

tried this this morning- except I didn't have spinach-buu!! I ran out yesterday and need more asap.

I added in a bit of mango, and a small date instead of sweetener

What did you think, El? It's not been my fave but they can't all be great! I'd love any suggestions you have for flavour combinations. I'm all ears!

I should use proper sweeteners instead of the artificial junk but I am stuck in my ways, and a bit calorie conscious right now...

    It was pretty good.

I always come back to, banana, berries, kale and almond milk (or soy or whatever kind of milk you want), vanilla extract. That's my fave but not super original.

I like mango and coconut too..

The pumkpin puree is not bad but I find the flavour a bit strong.
