I am going to DSG and getting one. I am leaning towards the Polar FT4...but I also have my eye on a Garmin Forerunner. I keep hearing all about Polar ones here...does anyone have any experience with a Garmin? Should I stick with Polar?

I LOVE my Polar FT4! I have had it over a year. I know you wanted info about the Garmin, I just wanted to put that out there.

I adore my Polar FT4...simple functional...does what I need. That being said, if I had the money I would buy one with a GPS so I don't have to take my phone to track my speed and milage!

I have the Polar FT4 and love it - easy to set up and easy to use.

    I don't run though, so I don't have a need for a GPS.

I don't remember the blog string but this same discussion was had a while back....the Garmin was not rated nesrly as well as the Polar FT4 ot 7. I don't remember details but was interested for the same reason you are....and it made up my mind that if and when I do get anything, it will be a Polar.

If you run, get a Garmin--the GPS is invaluable. If you just want a HRM for gym stuff, a Polar is great.
