I was told not eating enough calories can cause you to gain wright in the end?! Is this true? I checked out google but am getting lots of mixed messages. What r your inputs on not enough calories?

  • It depends upon the person, when I was 900 calories a day I lost A LOT of weight but I wasn't very healthy. I was dizzy all the time, tired, and not toning up very well. Now when I was 1200 I'm fine!

If your going on a very low calorie diet, I would talk to your doc!

Not really. Weight loss is sort of a curve. You eat too many calories, you gain weight. You eat in the sweet spot, you lose mostly fat and have the energy to work your butt off. You eat less than that, your weight loss tapers off. Your body performs life sustaining processes with greater efficiency but suboptimally. You feel chilly and lethargic. Workouts where you should be burning a ton of calories, it's actually just much harder than it should be because you're under-fueled.

You can't gain weight at a calorie deficit, it violates conservation of energy. However, your body isn't going to cheerfully burn off fat reserves if it thinks it needs them.

    Ya maybe i will. :)
  • No. It can cause your BMR to drop but not enough to reverse weight loss and usually not enough to stop weight loss. However, if you go from eating very little to eating normally you can gain weight more easily.
