My boyfriend and I are doing a kickboxing class tonight, and I was wondering what some good ideas for meals to have before hand would be? I don't want something that will make us too full. but I know we won't be able to do it without having anything because it's not until 7:30 and we are used to dinner at 6.
Any suggestions for meals or any ideas? Thanks!

This often happens with us. I'd suggest just eating half your dinner before and half after.
Otherwise something light like salad with some protein maybe.0 -

That's interesting, this is exactly what I do. I'm sure there is some complex science about the exact balance of protein, carbs and fat, but half a meal is manageable for me - not too full to be at the gym, and something to eat after.0 -
Have a snack that will provide energy such as a banana and peanut butter, very filling by the way. Or if you don't like that combination there are plent of others to choose from! I like banana pancakes, made with only eggs, mashed banana, cinnamon, and vanilla! It will fuel your workout! But after just eat a very small meal instead of a large one. I think you would be more satisfied.0

Instead of dinner, think of it as a preworkout meal and a post workout meal. Have the preworkout meal around 430 - something like a banana and half of a tuna sandwich, or raisins with greek yogurt, or an apple with natural peanut butter. For the post workout meal, you could have a small chicken breast or salmon with some veggies (something super quick to cook after getting home late!).0

I work out in the evenings and I keep it light before and after. Technically I am usually beat by the time I get home (especially from an intense class or day with the trainer I have no appetite.
I can't do many veggies before and after I have trouble with heavy stuff. I have been forcing myself to get more of my calories in earlier in the day and only doing light mini meals before and after.
Before (1hr-30min minimum to allow time for digestion): Almonds, string cheese, half serving of my favorite protein shake (save the other half and take w me to the gym to enjoy within the first 30 min post workout), a few ounces of lean meat or fish, a few carrot/celery/jicama/apple w nut butter.
A friend also liked to have the fixings for lettuce wraps and have a couple before and some after. Taco salad/steak salad can also be a good easy option to throw together before and or after.
There are some great recipes online for quinoa "salads" black bean and quinoa being one of my favorites or quinoa and shredded broccoli...0 -
