Eating after weight loss...just wondering

I've been thinking about the "dieting" portion of loosing weight. Currently restricting/lowering calorie intake and working out to loose weight. Then when you get to your goal weight you increase you calorie intake to maintain, hopefully still working out. Wouldn't you start gaining the weight back?
Is there anyone here that is using MFP to "maintain" and how do you do it??? Are you gaining your weight back?

I'm using MFP to maintain while working out, so I eat about 1800 net calories a day. I didn't just finish losing weight so I'm not sure about that. Your maintenance numbers for your brand new weight will be lower than they were when you were heavier, so you're still eating less. You're supposed to start eating again slowly, keep working out, until you get to whatever calorie number is your "sweet spot" where you would stop losing but not start gaining.
I think as you get close (within a few pounds?) to your goal you can start upping your calories to what your new maintenance number will be. It'll slow down weight loss, but the home stretch is slow anyway.
I guess I don't see why you *would* gain as long as you didn't go back to old, unhealthy habits.0
