Quitting Atkins and transferring to a new diet?

Alright, well after reading all these endomorph diet types, I figured low carb was the way to go and of course I went with the king of that field Atkins. Now, I did it successfully for a week but then fell off the wagon because I felt like crap and kept getting heartburn. I restarted the induction yesterday and I couldn't take it. I've done high fruit diets before and felt great and I don't care how much water weight was coming off of me from atkins, I felt fatter. I currently suffer from mild acid reflux and get heartburn here and there. Also, I might be insulin resistant but to be honest I don't know. So the question I'm asking is should transfer over to a high fruit diet with high carbs or a low g1 diet or the Mediterranean diet? I've heard all these Raw Foodists claim that high fruit, can help with insulin resistance.

    1. Congratulations on your first post.
    2. Talk to your doctor.
    3. Only you can decide which diet is right for you.
    4. Know your goals; are you trying to lose weight? To reduce acid reflux?

    5. Read through the forums. Take time to browse what's already been discussed. Your question might already have been answered.

Best wishes, and welcome to MFP.

I think you should do something that is easy for you to adhere to and stick to longterm.

Meaning, eat what you want, within your macros.

Weight loss doesn't have to be complicated, it's pretty simple given that you can exercise some will power and eat foods in moderation.

Maybe stop with all the diets and just eat less and move more? Worked pretty well for me. Hard to quit something when you get to eat all of the foods your like to eat.

This times 1,000! Diets don't work. Lifestyle changes do.

This is a great place to just start tracking your food. Self education. You learn how many calories the things you eat are..it helps. When you read through the forums you'll see just counting calories works for some..for others they have to eat clean. Myself, i'm limiting my carbs after really slow loss by counting calories.

So..start here...read..and then decide what works best for you.

x 2,000. "diets" (verb) are generally not sustainable...you need a diet (noun) that is sustainable. Eat less of the things you like and move more.

You're all right, I'm not going to follow a specific diet because this is permanent for me. I quit atkins actually dropped a few pounds back to my weight before beginning it, it was sustainable for me and now I plan on light eating with exercise.

The magic of mfp is that you can easily see where your calories come in no matter what type of food you eat. Calorie counting trumps food restriction by a long shot
