Not Quite The Fountain Of Youth (but close)

I have been trying to find an alternative to sugar and artificial sweeteners
I've been sampling Purevia, Truvia and Stevia In The Raw. All those companies graciously sent me samples and coupons.
At first, as far as taste, I thought Purevia and Truvia were the clear winners (in that order) with only a mild aftertaste. To me, Stevia in the Raw leaves too much of an after taste. Oh yea, I am only using them for coffee.
Still not 100% satisfied I did a little more searching and decided to try "Ideal No Calorie Sweetener". I requested samples from the company and they gladly sent me a couple of packets to try (they sent me a coupon, too). "Ideal No Calorie Sweetener" contains xylitol. I was really interested in finding a zero calorie sweetener.
Before all this, (and after sugar) I had been using Equal.
Well yesterday morning I tried "Ideal No Calorie Sweetener".
HOORAY! YAHOO! AT LAST! We (or at least I) have a WINNER!
"Ideal" is great! NO AFTERTASTE!!!!!! And cheaper than the others. If you are looking for the PERFECT no calorie sweetener, give this one a try.
I found it on the shelf at ACME, (my local super market).
And for those who may frown at "articial sweeteners", look up xylitol. As I have read and the way I understand, xylitol is a natural sweetener found in fruits and vegetables. It's approved by the FDA. It's produced by our own bodies metabolism. And it is reported to have health benefits for teeth.
"Ideal No Calorie Sweetener" claims to be more than 99% natural. As well as using it for hot & cold beverages, you can also cook with it.
I'm switching to this one!
I went right out (with my coupon) and bought a 50 ct box. (It also comes in a bag if you prefer to scoop it like sugar.)
Oh, and did I mention, NO AFTERTASTE?!!!

I just had to reply to this. Just visited the Fountain of Youth last week. (in Fl.) If you found something with no aftertaste, than that is definitely better than the REAL fountain of youth. ICK! (But you know I drank the whole cup of water, just in case it works!)0

Zylitol! I'm going to try it. Thank you very much. I agree, Stevia has a very bitter aftertaste. Thanks, again! BJB0

Thanks for the info!0

For those who decide to try "IDEAL NO CALORIE SWEETENER" brand, please post back here after you try it.
I am greatly interested in what you think.

Unfortunately, there is an unpleasant side effect of too much Xylitol. It causes gas.0

Is a sweetener something you have to have? (I eventually cut it out because I realized I just didn't need it anymore.) But my fiancee uses Stevia. He must not like it though, because that box has been in the pantry for the last six months hardly used. Sorry, I'm not much help.
Don't forget, xylitol is poisonous to dogs. If you have dogs, don't let them anywhere near it (gum included).0 -
How is this product produced? What other ingredients does it have other than
xylitol?
I have tried a bunch of them too and decided on Stevia in the Raw. It is not chemically produced, so I will put up with the aftertaste.
Most of the chemically produced sweetners give me headaches and migraines, so if only choice I will have good ol fashion sugar!0 -
I'm glad that you found something you like but I too, will add the caution that xylitol is deadly in dogs. While I know that "we" as humans are not susceptible to all of the same problems - if it can kill a dog within minutes (hemorrahaging and liver failure) - I'm not sure that it's something I want to ingest.
I don't do a lot of things that need sweetener in them - but I do have organic sugar in my coffee every morning.0 -

Here is a link to their FAQ website:

It says the ingrediants are a blend of Xylitol, dextrose, maltodextrin and a very small amount of sucralose for added sweetness.0 -
