Ketosis without starving??

Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help me out with this problem I'm having.

I am a biology major and for one of my physiology experiments we did an electrolyte urinalysis + blood glucose test.. Long story short my blood glucose levels were normal, but my urine analysis showed that my body was in Ketosis.

I am not on a low carb diet, my diary should be open to everyone. I'm 5'1, 158 pounds, 22 years old. I currently eat 1400-1600 calories on rest days, and more on workout days (although my diary isn't completely up to date - forgot to log some food on certain days and exercise). I don't feel starving, in fact I feel like I'm eating too much sometimes.

My professor said that since my blood glucose is fine I don't have to worry about diabetes.. but I'd like to know what's going on in my body and if anyone has any suggestions? I'm booking a doctors appt for next week too
