Practical Reasons to Lose Weight

Without wanting to debate the issue, I do want to say that not everyone with weight issues also has health issues. So what are some reasons people have for losing weight if health isn't an issue (or even if it is, other reasons besides health)?

Here are a few of mine:

I want to be able to fit my butt into a seat on the bus, and I want my body to fit into the space designed for one person. No more having people bump into me on their way down the isle, and no more feelings of dread when all the window seats are full. Also, I'd love to not be afraid of crushing someone if I end up on a bus with standing room only and fall into a lap.

I'd love to fit into the desks at school. They are chairs with attached tables, and they are not built for big people. I have to wedge myself into it, then make sure I lift the desk out of the way before trying to stand to avoid taking the whole contraption with me. Right now I sit in the "special" desk - a table unattached to a chair. Actually, I'm cool with sitting in that spot because the desks are uncomfortable for everyone. But I want to have the CHOICE of sitting elsewhere.

Personal hygiene is a bit challenging with a large body and short arms. I won't go into details, but I'll be happy when my only problem is short arms!

Baby-wearing devices are not optimized for fat people. Especially really fat people. It would have been nice to use a sling when I cared for my niece and nephew. I hope to have more kids someday, and I'll want to use a sling then.

Sitting closer to the steering wheel so my legs aren't stretched out when I drive would be nice. Right now my seat is set all the way back so the steering wheel isn't touching my tummy.

Fat discrimination in employment (and other areas of life) has been well documented. Actually, studies have found that discrimination occurs against perfectly attractive and fit people who happen to have the misfortune of sitting or standing next to a fat person while waiting for a job interview. I'll be happy to avoid fat discrimination.

Maybe someday I can eat in public without feeling like everyone is watching me and judging me for every morsel I put into my mouth. Maybe.

Health is my reason for losing weight and exercise - recent health scare, etc.

    Other than that...

I don't want to have to buy my clothes from the plus size section.
I want to be able to wear clothing that looks "neat and tidy" rather than sloppy.
I definitely love my comfortable tunics (one of which I have on in my profile picture), but they look like maternity shirts when you are fat.

I don't know if I would call it "fat discrimination" as much as I would call it "fat repulsion." Yes, I have decided to lose weight, exercise and get healthier, BUT, if I didn't want to, I can't imagine how that is anyone else's business. It's nobody's place to judge you, but they do.

My number one benefit of losing weight (other than health) will hopefully be to meet someone special. Not only will I look better, but I will feel better physically and emotionally. I am long overdue for a self-confidence makeover!
You know the saying, "if I don't like me, how can I expect someone else to like me?"

I want all my physical activities to be easier. Even things like getting clothes out of the washing machine would be easier.

    Also, I want to. . . . . Um. .. . . .add some spice to my sex life.

LOL my gyno told me if I lost some weight, I might be able to regain some internal feeling (2 kids)

    Also:
-I am enjoying being able to run, at a moment's notice to my kids
    - to not feel embarrassed by FB photos (sorry, more vanity than practical)
-to be able to rock climb (it always looks fun watching other people do it)
    - to have the energy to dance without being huffed and puffed
