what do you think is a sensible amount to loose a week?

i have dropped from 211lb to 199lb in 2 months... this is great but i can't help feel that i'd like it to come of a little more due to the fact i have 60lb to loose still!

my intake 'allowance' is 1450 but i eat back calories during exercise (roughly 300-500kcal)

what do you guys think?

Since you have 60 lbs to lose I would think that 2 lbs per week is a safe amount. As you get closer to your goal take it down to 1 lb per week, and then .5 lb per week for your last 10 lbs or so.

Do you know your BMR? I'd net that much.

I have my goals set to lose a half pound a week, which allots to much less than you've lost, though I suppose my goals are smaller. I think that what you've accomplished so far is incredible. It is very hard to keep consistently losing weight at more than a pound a week, so I find what you're doing will last a long time and work maybe even all the way down to your goal unlike many others.

Just keep at it and look at it more like a lifestyle change than a quick fix.

its not about weight loss its about quality excercise and quality food intake.

Eat well and excercise and just see how much you lose there is no right or wrong if you are burning fat and creating lean muscle you will benefit

I havent lost an ounce in the last two months but people are always saying stop losign weight you look thinner.

    Why?

My body fat has reduced to 10% and I train nearly everyday.

Calories scales and the rest is all bollocks

1-2lbs per week is a good amount.

the most important thing you need for weight loss is patience...

i'm not looking for a super quick fix - i guessed that i would maybe be near my goal at the end of this year. exercise i've gone from doing nothing at all to at least 30-60mins of something or other a day (with one rest day)

my BMR apparently is 1695 calories (Harris-Benedict Formula) so with 1450 and eating back exercise calories should amount to around that... is that right?

i know the calories, the scale, the weigh-ins are all just a pain in the *kitten* really but it is nice to see progress of some sort, even if it is the case of a number on a scale going down.

Actually, with the amount of weight you have to lose, you're right on target with an average of 1.5 pounds per week. Great job!!

Here is a great guideline for setting weekly weight loss goals:
If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal, and
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal.

There are basically 3 different approaches you can take with calories:

    1) set your MFP weekly weight loss goal to 1.5 pounds per week (for now, make sure you adjust per the table above as you lose) and eat back your earned exercise calories.

    2) use this link:

    and follow the instructions

    3) or similarly, set your calorie goal to your BMR and eat back earned exercise calories.

i forgot to add: MFP has my TDEE as 2180. I work out my TDEE to be more around 2326. for loosing 1.5lb a week on MFP's TDEE i'm consuming 1430, with the other TDEE it works out as around 1576 - this however is under my BMR...
