need help with fitbit and trying TDEE

I would like to try TDEE but can I still use my fitbit one? I am a little nervous to try TDEE. So if I have a BMR of 1587 and a TDEE of 2344 how do I add exercise and the fitbit ? I need to make up exercise time still right? I hope I make since as I am a little confused on how to calculate everything.

When you link your fitbit to your account, when you add exercise it will ask you to input what time you were working out... So if you are lifting or riding a bike, for 30 minutes starting at 3 pm... any activity you did on your fitbit will not be caclulated. Which is what it is supposed to do, but if you are just walking or running dont track that as exercise just let your fit bit do the adjustment for you. Fitbit and Myfitnesspal, have a formula for calculating what calories you would burn, if you just laid on the sofa all day (it factors in your age, weight, activity level (based on what you set it as in myfitnesspal) and comes up witha number fo calories you would burn for doing nothing, your fit bit adjustment is anything above and behind on that, so just because you fit bit say you burned 2000 calories doesnt mean they will track that way in my fitnesspal... just let it do its adjustment, track your none fitbit exercises and you should be fine... Atleast thats how i use it, but hey i could be doing it all wrong.

I used my average total calories burned according to my Fitbit and subtracted from that number. I make sure I eat a little above my bmr but below my tdee. My average tdee according to my Fitbit is around 2100 and my bmr is between 1375 and 1475, depending on hitch calculator I use. I try to eat between 1500-1600 calories unless I exercise more than usual. I don't let my deficit get too high or I will stop losing or I will gain a little. I check the dashboard on Fitbit a couple of times through out the day to see my projected tdee for the day to make sure I stay on stay on track. I also use a heart rate monitor when I exercise and log it on here so my Fitbit dashboard is as accurate as possible. Hope that helps.

From what I'm understanding, all you need to do is manually change your Daily Calorie Estimate setting to the calorie range based on your TDEE. You should be eating at a range between your BMR and TDEE, closer to TDEE if you're exercising. For me, MFP and FitBit gave me a calorie goal below my BMR, which is the minimum you should eat everyday, even without exercise. Eating under my BMR made me feel like my body was going into starvation mode. I would suggest modifying your calorie goal for MFP and FitBit for a while and see how your body responds. Believe it or not, you may not be eating ENOUGH to see the weight loss you want! Hope this helps!

Now what happens if I set MFP to my BMR then eat back my exercise calories instead of setting it at TDEE?

bump... been struggling with this myself. I am such a numbers geek, but it may be too much information. I do like the motivation though. some have suggested not linking MFP to the fitbit... but again I like the numbers too much even if it is confusing.
