Can't I just make my own?

Soo I have a friend who is a Beach Body Coach, and is hell bent on selling me on Shakeology. Now I love me some Turbo Jam and all but I can not see spending $120 a month for shakes. And yes I know that some people swear by them and that the "quality of the ingredients" is supposed to be great (though few can say what the actual ingredients are), but I own a blender, I am sure I could make something just as good myself. I would love something for in the mornings since I don't always like to eat in the morning but I need to get my metabolism going.
So I guess my question is, if you make your own meal replacement shakes, what do you put in them?

Depends on how many calories I want.
Something like:
140 grams frozen fruit
30 grams carrots
50-100 grams cauliflower
1 scoop protein powder
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
enough water to blend or milk if I want more calories0 -
I agree with you. Sure, you can probably lose weight with the shakes, but what happens 6 months down the road if you decide you want to use that $120 for something else. You're back to square one. On the other hand, if you make your own smoothies, count calories and workout, you now have taught yourself how to eat right and be healthy while enjoying regular foods and not worrying about not being able to eat because you dont have a shake with you.
I'm not a big smoothie maker, but I do add a "mean green juice" to my lunch everyday. It has kale or spinach, celery, cucumber, apple, lemon and ginger. It's just another way to ensure that I get in all of my veggies and nutrients. I am sure there are plenty of smoothie recipes on the site. Good luck!0 -
It's an overpriced protein shake. Grab some protein powder, add some veggies/fruits. Milk, coconut milk, almond milk or water and voila! You've saved yourself buckets of money:flowerforyou:0
