Six years ago this week my father was diagnosed with late-stage pancreatic cancer and passed away three days later. At that same time I was recovering from surgery for newly diagnosed breast cancer and was preparing to start chemo and radiation. This time of year always makes me reflect back on my life and reassess how far I’ve come.
Yeah, I’ve gained a few pounds since then and I’m constantly battling my bleepin' metabolism, and sometimes I let that get to me. But the MFP community has been a huge help, and I’ve met some truly inspirational people on here. Ultimately we’re all here to be as healthy as possible, and it helps to be reminded of that when I start beating myself up for feeling like I’ve failed. So while I’m doing my reflecting, I just want to say a big thank you to my friends and to all the others who log in every day and support each other through the good, the bad and the ugly. Even a small comment on someone’s wall can make a positive difference in their day and push them to be a little better.![:) :)](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/smile.png)

when we are living our everyday lives....it is so easy to think you are having a bad day but when you step back to look around you realize that your life or your bad day really isn't as bad as someone else's.
I can only imagine what it must have been like for you during the time of not only dealing with your surgery/health issues but to have had to be strong while your father was sick too. I am soooo sorry for the early passing of your father!!
With both those events you were strong enough to move past to become the person you are today.
Not everyone is that strong....you should be proud of yourself
We are all here for the same reasons (our health)...it really does help being able to talk to those who understand....every little comment really can make a difference in one's day. Thanks for being one of my MFPals :flowerforyou:0 -
Yeah, that does put some perspective into things. Let's all do the best we can to be well!0
