Suggestions for adding some strength stuff

I was thinking of using 500g weights for my arms - while on my stationary bike.
I don't know anything about weights and if this would be beneficial or how to record it, or if I'd be better doing something different for my arms when off the bike rather than on?
Sounds confusing - but since lots of people here know all about exercise any help would be great.
Just thought making the most of my time on the bike would be worth it.
In case this makes a difference - I usually do 3 lots of 40min a week averaging 18-20km p/hr at resistance 5 (out of 10).

    oh really :( bummer.
Nevermind then - I won't log anything if I do add it to my bike rides.
    Thanks.

You would be better of doing strength off the bike. Such light weights would mostly increase your cardio intensity, rather than build muscle.

For at home, either get a whole set of dumbbells or a set of resistance bands. You will be surprised at how quickly even 5lb/ 2 kilo wights feel light.

If you don't want the equipment, looking into body weight exercises.

Either way, don't forget your legs - cycling builds very limited strength in a limited range of motion.
