LesMills Combat

Hi all, I'm keen to start exercising but feel to self-conscious to go to the gym at the moment and being honest I have never really been a gym person.
I was wondering if anyone has used Lesmills combat with any success? I'm currently 210lbs and not been active in very long while.

Yep, I have the home DVD's and go to the classes. I can't say I lost significant weight (I was already close to my goal weight) but I love the workouts and the home set has 6 or 7 DVDs with it for options on time and also 2 HIIT programs.0

I joined my gym 4 years ago, and now go over my lunch hour everyday. I was nervous and shy to try anything, but under the guidance of my trainer I have found much success. It was he that suggested I try BodyAtttack. I had never been one for much exercise, and to this day am not a fan of intense cardio but I went ahead and gave it a try.*
I thought I was gonna die lol! It was intense, and thought I would never catch my breath, but it was FUN! The instructor keeps us pumped up AND entertained, and fellow classmates are very friendly. The moves are pretty simple and repetitive, and there are always options/variations to high vs low impact and everyone in the class is usually doing options at different levels. Now, I look forward to my occasional weekday off so I can make that class! It's a scorcher, burning 500-600 calories pr hour class.
BodyCombat is likely a little different, but may workout the same way. I say "Give it a try!" Ya never know, you may actually end up liking it!
*When I started out going to the gym, I did it because I knew it was healthy(even if I didnt see results right away). Then I continued to go because it had become a habit and it felt weird not going. And now, 4 years later I'm addicted to the gym- it is actually fun for me and I feel so good physically when I'm done, and also feel good knowing I am so much stronger and healthier than I used to be.
Good Luck!0 -

I LOVE les mills combat so much! I'm close to my goal weight so I haven't lost much...but I'm getting very lean and toned! This is the most fun I have ever had working out! I actually miss it on my rest days! The instructors are funny and make it fun. It is a great workout too! I'm dripping sweat by the end of each work out! Yes, keep your eye out for kitty0

I like yourself was like this when i first joined my gym.
When I started to do classes I found that it was a lot more motivating and was learning proper technique and generally enjoying going.
My gym offers a range of LesMills work outs Body Attack, Body Combat, Body Step, Body Pump, Body Balance RPM and Grit.
I have tried all of these classes except Grit (because it only just started a few weeks ago and isn't at an appropriate time for me) and they all offer a range of options from lower to intermediate.
My favorite is BodyAttack I started off the same as 'yarmiah' out of breath and struggling to catch my breath but now I smash out a class burn about 700 calories and feel amazing after.
I'm personally not a big fan of body combat. I used to really enjoy it but as my fitness has improved I just started to feel like I wasn't doing enough in the class. But it may just be the last release I did.
My advice is go try what ever your gym has to offer you might surprise yourself. Don't be conscious about going to the gym. One thing I have found is the people that are really fit and intimidating aren't going to laugh at you or be annoyed you're taking up equipment. Most of them respect you for giving it a go even if they don't show it.0 -
I do combat once a week, do to my schedule, and I love it! I also do body pump which is awesome. I cannot say if it is making me lose weight. I know my diet is WAY off, but I'm losing about a lb a week on average which is good for where I am at now. I am sure you can drop lbs easy doing it often enough. I am soaked at the end of class and my HRM reads 530-600 cals. usuallu, depending on my effort that day0

Thank you for all the comments. I know joining a gym would be great for motivation but at the moment the thought of sweating in public is not appealing to me. But never say never.
@ katrinajMiles I have never seen someone look so enthusiastic to eat salad! Hopefully that will be me some day rather than pushing it to the side of the plate!0
