Should I be following my TDEE or BMR for weight loss?

Alright, well just today I discovered TDEE-20% which at my height and weight has me eating about 1800 calories a day. I am just wondering because I see threads dedicated to this method and I see threads that are anti-TDEE. I've been a low calorie eater in the past when I lost my weight before but began cheating and eating terrible foods and gained the weight back. Now, I'm wondering what to follow from personal stories here? Is this method for the lucky few and waste of my time or does it work?

Pay attention to both---I've read on here to not eat below BMR and not above TDEE and you will be good to go.

the sweet spot is somewhere in between. you will have to find that yourself. don't fret about being exact; just stay in between the two numbers.

you must be patient and give it 4-6 weeks.

What thread is "anti-TDEE"? Isn't that like arguing against 2+2=4?

TDEE is the amount of energy (calories) your body uses in a day.

The way - literally, the only possible way other than physical tissue removal - to lose weight is to consume fewer calories than your TDEE on a regular basis.

Shoot for TDEE minus 20% every day.

    I was thinking that.

I have yet to see an "anti-TDEE" thread, just many threads about people's misunderstanding of the concept.

Should I add on calories slowly, like a hundred per week or just shoot them up right away?
