Arc Trainer vs Elliptical

Can anyone compare the health benefits of one vs the other? And your preference? I started using the arc trainer today at the gym and am used to the elliptical. Not sure which to continue using. Thanks!

Arc Trainer is better. You can get the same benefits on both but I think the Arc Trainer is mechanically better for your body. Much more versatile also.

they are both great workouts and low impact on the knees. Due to my knees I can only do the recumbent bike and elliptical at the gym (for cardio). I was nervous about the arc trainer so I asked a physical therapist and she said it was a great thing to do! so i tried it and boy am i not coordinated enough to that yet, especially since she told me to keep my stride short at first. I keep trying it and hope to get better at. its good to change things up so keep doing both.

Whichever one you enjoy more. You're training your heart, and your heart doesn't really care that much just what it is you're doing that's consuming all that oxygen. The entire point of cardio is to stress the heart's ability to deliver oxygen to your body tissues.
  • I prefer the arc trainer. Feels more like a natural stride than the ellipticals.

I use the arc trainer and love it. Have lost 16 pounds and have almost exclusively used this machine for cardio. I have a foot problem and it doesn't bother it. The stride feels smoother. I just set it for high incline and resistance or I do the weight loss option on it. But to each his own.

I have used both in the past and I have had better toning/strength results using the Arc trainer esp in the upper thighs and butt area, LOL.. but like I commented earlier on your post.. that machine is EVIL!!
