I have a Polar FT4 ladies black. I've worn it 6 or 8 times. I shouldn't have bought it bc I really knew I wouldn't wear it more.

Do you want it? I'll send it to you. 50% off whatever price you found online. Let me know.

Thanks but I'm looking for a male one.

    RS300X.

Because it's not much more than FT7, and I'm betting your main purpose is for getting calorie counts.

That is about their cheapest model that has the stats that allow decently accurate calorie count.

The cheaper models are missing that stat and so can be very off.

I have the FT7 and love it. I haven't had the FT4 so I can't compare. I like it because it is a good enough looking watch to wear as a casual watch. Has all the features I like, save one, a stopwatch/timer.
  • I have the ft4 ...i think the ft7 gives you more info..
  • The ft4 is not a stop watch..or timer..:(

There is next to no difference between the men's Polar FT4 and the women's one. If you don't have huge wrists and it isn't a bright pink one then no one but you will know that it's a "women's" one.

I have the FT4 and it's great for what I need! I'm not sure if they recently remodeled it, but mine does have a stopwatch timer.

I have the FT7 and really like it. Once you've put in your max heartrate it will tell you at any given time whether you're exercising in fat burn or fitness mode, which is really useful. Plus calorie count, workout timer, time, date, and it saves your training files.

You can get them on Amazon for about £60-ish.

I have the FT7. It's practically the same as the FT4, but the FT7 has data transfer capabilities and gives you access to polar personal training (I've never used either, so I can't speak to them, but the options are nice). The FT7 also stores 99 training files, while the FT4 only stores your last 10.

    Ah I didn't know this..Thanks!
  • I have the FT4. I was looking for a heart rate monitor that tracks heart rate and calories burned. I had no need for other features, which you may want, depending on your training.

I bought the FT7 because I wanted the data-transfer capability, so I wouldn't have to manually enter all the data in the computer.

I've been interested in the FT7 because it does do this, but... what do you do with the data once you transfer it? Just curious because I'm not sure if I would truly use this featrue. I already just manually enter my calories burned into MFP. What more do you do with your information?

I actually own..or owned both. I gave my FT4 to my wife when I upgraded and got the FT7. I just wanted some extra data fields to look at but still the main one I wanted was Calorie burn and they both are pretty darn accurate.

Yes the FT7 allows you to data sync with the extra 40+ dollar FlowLink transmitter (worthless IMHO since you're going to have to add your calorie burns into MFP or any other tracking software manually). So you spend the 100ish for the FT7 (is it still that much?) plus another 40+ for the transmitter.. Plus if I remember correctly you have to pay to use Polar's Personal Training site. I don't remember that last part.

For me personally I love my FT7 still use it when I'm doing things other than running. But in all honesty it just comes down to price since they're both pretty much the same.

Free access. Free training suggestions too.

But indeed, workout timestamp and time, avg and max HR, calories burned, and track your personal stats in yet another place.

Yep, not that useful unless you are training and trying to do proper zones.
  • I have the FT 40, I LOVE IT. i seriously is my best friend.

I just bought the FT4 and I love it. I use it everyday. Very easy to set up and use. Haven't had any issues. And I think it's cheaper than the FT7. Got mine off Amazon for $75.

I have owned both watches in the past year, ridiculous I know! The FT7 is GREAT and provides a LOT more feedback than the FT4. The FT$ is really a basic HRM that keeps track of your last 10 workouts. Thats it, no other perks. The FT& keeps like 30day of info and analyzes that information to tell you weekly whether you need to train more/less and what heart rate zones you should be in more/less. It also gives you a weekly recap with the total amount of calories burned and time.

BE CAREFUL when you change the batter on the watches....this led to the demise of my FT7...I broke it. I then purchased the FT4. Do I miss the 7? Not really. I plug my calories burned in on MFP after most workouts and my goal is to really capture my week calories burned. Yes, the FT7 was more efficient but the 4 is a LOT less.

    Both are great watches.
