Wheat Free

I am recently diagnosed as wheat intolerant and am struggling with what I can eat and afford to prepare for me & kids. It sounds easy to say eat meat and fresh veggies. It is hard to be on the run with busy kids and have a job that needs snacks because eating can be irregular. I am looking for friends who help me get going on this journey. In the week I've been wheat free I am seeing a difference. I don't feel better yet, but a persistent mysterious rash is clearing up fast.
I've had heath problems for some time and haven't felt well and have simply gained weight, despite efforts. I want to do this right so at least I can feel better and maybe I can drop some pounds too.
Let me know if I can add friends who can help me navigate this with preteen and teen aged kids to feed also.

Hi. I recently decided to go wheat free myself, and i am also looking for some like-minded folks to chat with. I have a 22yo, 19yo, and a 12yo living with me, and like it or not, this house is going to be wheat free! I cannot control what the older two eat while they are at work or school, but at home there won't be any snack foods with wheat in them. My youngest is homeschooled so I can control what she eats. I think all three will see a difference in their health once they try it. They could all stand to lose a few pounds, my middle child has had a strange wheezing nearly all her life (but it isn't really asthma), and I hope my dizzy spells are wheat related, as I have had them off and on since I was four. It would be nice to be dizzy-free!
I decided to start wheat free today, and what I notice is that I am having to urinate a lot! However, I have to cut out corn and rice and all because I am diabetic too. I wasn't perfect because it is going to take awhile to eliminate the wheat foods I have in the house. However, on today's meals alone, my BG was hovering around 100-115 which is great for me. (It had been around 140-160 the past few weeks after the Dr took me off glipizide. I was going to ask him to put me back on it, but this is probably a better idea.)
I have tried low carb (Atkins, specifically) before, and was quite successful before I got pregnant with my youngest. However, every time I tried since then I always went out of ketosis because I ate their food products. I think there must be some ingredient that I am sensitive to in them, so I think I have to avoid soy and other flours as well as wheat. I do recall how good I felt when I was on the induction phase, but I am not going to eliminate all fruits this time. I am not aiming for ketosis.
Anyway, please friend me and we can make this journey together.0
