Beer- St Pats Day

Hello,
Is it ok to have a good time on St. Pats day without blowing everything Ive worked on in a diet. Can I drink light beer and work it off? Or should I just take one off?
I am eating roughly 1000 cals a day normally, when advised should be 1900.
Can I work it off the next day or compensate by eating less on that day?

Fellow beer drinker, here.
You can throw back a bunch of "lite" beers if you want, or just have one evening "free." One evening will not ruin your progress. It may stall your progress, but if you go back to your plan the next day, you'll be back on track. Just don't turn it into a weekend free for all.
Plan ahead. Fill out your diary for that day now (or you could wait a week or two) and see how behind it'll set you back. Take those calories that are red and spread them throughout the week on exercise or add to your daily deficit. You may not have to do too much extra, if any at all.
I'm going out to dinner tonight and I've been looking forward to it all week. I've already planned what I'm getting, and it's pretty close to my macros and still under my calorie target, which leaves me a snack later tonight. Of course, I may have more to add, or plans could change, but knowing about what I am going to be eating makes me feel less uncertain and more proactive in my day.
Remember: life's short, so enjoy when you can0 -
It's only one day!! Blowing off your diet one day will not do you any long term harm. It takes a surplus of 3500 calories to add a pound of fat to your body. Have a few beers and enjoy the holiday no need to get OCD over it
That being said did you know that Guinness Stout has fewer calories than regular beer (122 per 12 oz vs 150 for regular lager and about 200 for an IPA)0 -
Beer doesn't count on St Patricks day.. Nor does any green drink...
I'll be eating corned beef before during and after the beer consumption too.. mmmmmm corned beef.. my mouth is watering..
yay for beer!
oh.. and don't eat less then what you are eating now.. If you're really worried, exercise more. but you're already eating little.0 -
If you are only getting 1000 calories a day then you have room for a beer without flinching maybe even two.
I personally make sure I've exercised my "bank" up high enough for a beer or 3 whenever I will have the opportunity to drink.
I am often heard saying "Pour me a beer, what do you think, I run for my health"0 -
Are we really starting the OMG! There is a holiday and I don't know what to do about it threads for St. Pats day? You don't have to be miserable because you are losing weight, training, bulking, cutting, or whatever else you may be doing. Either choose to have a free day, choose to exercise more to give yourself more calories for the day, or choose to punish yourself and not allow yourself to enjoy what you like for that day. It really is as simple as making a choice.0

If you're only eating 1000 cals a day, don't worry about it after just a few beers you'll be splattered on the floor...0

Light beer is illegal on St Patricks day. Fact.0 -
Guinness is calorie free basically the entire month of March... so long as it is followed by a shot of Jameson.0
-
Please don't drink green beer. Just find good beer and have a couple!0
-
You'll be a cheap date at 1000 cals a day.0

True! Direct from the Vatican!0 -

GUINESS. Or Jameson. either way
and 1000 calories? Have *5* beers. You need it.0 -

^^This right here. You might go from zero to schlockered in about 2.5 ounces.0 -
It's only once a year!! Relax! Get embarrassingly, blackout drunk, have unprotected sex with a stranger. Don't worry about the weight gain component.0

1000 cal a day!?!?!?! How do you make it without getting cranky?!?!?! lol, i had a low day yesterday and I felt awful!
St Patty's Day is my birthday, so I celebrate every year!! This year, though I'll just be trying to exercise beforehand, a lesson I'm still learning!! lol

Have a beer or two and have fun.
I bowl on a league every other Sunday and I drink a couple of beers while I bowl. I've lost 80 pounds in 13 months and I am now maintaining with an occasional beer or two. It can be done.0 -
Last night was our last Friday of every month bowling night. (Yeah, I know it was March 1st.) 2 slices of pizza, 2 beers, and deep fried jalapenos. I eat healthy 80% of the times, lots of fruits, veggies, lean protein. You don't have to sacrifice food and drinks you really enjoy to have a healthy lifestyle. If I ate and drank like that regularly, that would be a different story.0

Drink good beer. Light or lite beer = yuk.

Lite beer? No.
There's no info on your profile. If you are set to 1900 calories, you should be trying to eat close to that. MFP sets your deficit to lose "so much" per week by eating the number of calories it says to. Eating too low can ef up your metabolism and make it even harder to lose.
That said, if you are only eating 1000 on St. Patrick's Day, you could enjoy up to 6 delicious Fat Tire Amber Ale beers completely guilt free.0 -
I reckon beers are mandatory on St Pat's day! Downing a few beers one day a year is really not going to do much harm (weight-wise, that is - whether at 1,000 cals a day you'll survive past your third is another story!)0
