Do you track *all* exercise?

I'm curious... I am taking the (AWESOME) advice of a MFP member who suggested fitting in squats/pushups while on work washroom breaks. So far today, I've managed to squeeze in 10 (counter) push ups and 50 squats. (*So far*. A lot of water means a lot of washroom breaks! TMI?)

Would you bother to track these when they're only sporadic or would you just consider them extras to help you along?

Would I have to be doing these exercises in a row for many minutes at a time in order to count them? If I end up doing a couple hundred squats, push ups, etc throughout the day, shouldn't I get SOME credit?

Thanks in advance.

Nope. I only track my 4 scheduled workouts and then I don't add back in the calories as I eat a level eating plan based on a % off TDEE. I feel it can be counter productive to track every exercise calorie and include them in the eating plan. It leads to obsessive attempts to be accurate on something that is a guestimation at best.

I wouldn't track anything under 10 minutes really, because although it is working your muscles I doubt it'd be burning a large enough amount of calories to warrant tracking.
It can just be an added bonus if you lose a little more than you are expecting to :)

Credit as in "way to go, you did something today" or credit as in "hey I can have extra to eat tonight because I squatted in the bathroom today"?

The first one, totally put it in if it helps your motivation, the second one probably not because short times of those types of exercise aren't really burning a lot because you don't get your heart rate up for more than a minute or so.

This is really up to personal preference. If you want it to count towards your calorie allowance, record it. I would just be cautious and maybe not eat back all of those calories.

I only log my actual scheduled workouts, anything extra is just extra! Such as those squats, or for me running around playing games with my youth group kids. Just extra :)

I'm only posting to add my black cat to the list.

    PS: wouldn't track

Wow, you sure get replies back quickly here! Good points you all make - I don't generally 'eat back' my calories burned so I never thought of that. I'll just consider them extras to boost me along to my goal. Kinda gives me energy boosts through the day!

I had to laugh when Mokey said "hey I can have extra to eat tonight because I squatted in the bathroom today".

    Thanks all!

I'm guilty of being a 'bathroom exerciser' too. I love adding a little extra burn to my day BUT it's so minimal I don't track it. I only log the workouts that I dedicated a specific block of time for....the rest it's just a bonus.
