Hello MFP Peeps

I'm new to MFP but not new to the tracking food and exercise gig. I've been using Livestrong for about 3 years but suddenly lately the site has not been working well, and unfortunately it's getting worse. I suspect they have not sorted their site for new technology or something.

I started tracking my diet in a spreadsheet about 5 years ago. Over the years I went from 240 to 192, but when we moved back to the states from Ireland I gained 20 lbs in a year. I can't understand it because we (my husband and I) exercise a LOT. So two weeks ago I started a local program called Innerthin. It's shakes and meal replacement bars, training, and once a week with a really scary trainer dude. I'm enjoying it except that I can't have ANY carbs, which eliminates fruit from my diet which besides my concern for this not being healthy, I LOVE citrus so I really miss that.

I do ok motivating myself. My husband is a great support too but sometimes it's good to talk to other people going through the same thing. So "Hello MFP Peeps!" I look forward to getting to know you.

Welcome and good luck to you. This is an awesome site and seems to be a very extensive food list available. This is an easy site to navigate. I also have this on my Iphone. I like the scan food option on the phone. I have been doing this since Nov 2012 and have lost more weight than I have in ages. I am learning to be more active and actually enjoy it. Accountability, and encouraging others is a good part of this. I am very nonjudgemental and am on here frequently. I have tried a couple other sites and this one is my favorite hands down,
  • Very interesting! I downloaded the app for my Win8 smartphone (that's how I found this site). What is this scan function? How does it work?

Scan just allows you to use the camera to view the barcode on a food product and it will identify it and it's calories, protein, fat etc

Hello, I am new also. And I'm in shock that I have lost three pounds. So this app is great. to get to the scanner click the "add to diary button" then choose your meal, "Lunch" then you will see next to the search bar on the right , a  thing that looks like a bar code. Hit that and scan a bar code on something like fat free refried beans. It will bring up that food for you! Good luck
