Late night eating

And how do I stop it? I do good all day long with eating and snacking healthy so I stay satisfied. Then all the sudden 8-10pm comes around and I feel like I haven't eaten all day long. I could buffet binge at that time of night. Then I feel horriable. Why is this and what can I do to stop it? I know eating that late is bad and just sits there while you sleep.

I think the first problem is people seem to get it stuck in their head that "I CAN'T EAT AFTER A CERTAIN HOUR" This is not ture and when your body is hungry you should FEED IT.

There could several reasons you are feeling this way.
    1. You are not eatting enough
    2. You might be eatting your dinner too early
    3. Maybe you are getting the right amount of calories, but not from the right foods.

I personally eat whenever/whatever time of day. At least 3-4 times a week I will wake up between 10pm and 3am starving, so I get my happy self out of bed, walk to the kitchen, and eat a snack. It varies from cereal, to yogurt, fruit, granola bars, etc. I log this into my calories for the day.

If you are hungry and starving, it is because you are not giving your body what it needs.

I tried to look at your food diary to see if I could help or offer suggestions - but it was not available for public view.

What do you typically eat throughout the day?

One idea is to brush your teeth when you're done eating. When I'm getting ready for bed (which is probably earlier than you due to having a toddler!), brushing my teeth is my way of saying "I'm done" eating. If that doesn't do it for you, how about snacking on fruits, yogurt or a little light popcorn? This might satisfy your craving to snack without ruining all the work you did throughout the day! If you just "have" to have something sinful, try the mini cups of ice cream...they're not too bad calorie-wise and mighty delish!

I totally know what you mean about this! Mine is usually around 8pm if my other half is out. It's like my brain starts thinking "no-one will know if I just eat this cereal bar......." then it goes on to full blown chocolate cravings!!

I know this sounds so rubbish and it's not food - but when I get this I have a mug of either green tea or an Options Hot Chocolate sachet (37 cals and sorts out my sweet fix!). It makes my tummy feel full long enough to not eat anything before bed usually :)

I know it's not for everyone but worth a try if you like hot drinks?

My wife and I usually have coffee around 8 sometimes. It satisfies that need to have something without having a lot of calories. Obviously if you're the type that can't fall asleep due to the caffeine, this may not work for you.
