Allergy Questions

Hey guys! So I have been battling with not knowing what exactly I'm allergic to for, well, my whole life. I've seen an allergen specialist once and got the pokey skin test, but only dust mites came up and I know that my allergies are related to food as well as well because I get reactions after eating certain things. I have guesses, but I want to be certain that I am eliminating all of the right things and not things that I just think I am.
For the blood allergy test, do you see a doctor? What about a naturopath or the ones you send in? I just am not really sure who to see as the allergen person was very vague about everything.
Anyways, any input/advice would be appreciated!!

when i had my allergy tests done (skin pokey thing), they did a skin test for foods as well. at that point the allergist's office did all that. I did eventually asked for more foods to be tested that they did not have serums for, so when i did the blood test, the allergist has to order the labs to be done for you. he gave me a form and checked off the foods to test for, send me to a lab for blood to be drawn and the allergist met with me about my results. Doing the elimination test (done on your own) can take sooo long and youre never sure if that is accurate.0

I would call your doctor first and ask if he/she does the tests or if you should get it done at the allergist. Some doctors might be comfortable doing that for you and others might not. Also, did you tell your allergist you also wanted to be tested for foods? I'm always allergic to all 50 skin pokeys, so I stopped getting them haha.0

Thank guys! I got tested for two of the foods I thought were problematic and then 4 other things. The allergy specialist doctor person I saw said though that I might be allergic to those things at a lower level, that the test isn't always the most accurate but moreso for people who are highly allergic to things. I think I will talk to my actual doctor and see what can be done.
Thanks for the support!0 -

My husband is allergic to nuts, pineapple and especially milk and milk products(Gets flu-like symptoms).
Never has shown up on any tests but I've seen it all so I know he is. It took him till his early twenties to figure out what it was.
He did this mostly by way of an elimination diet. Eat safe foods and then add and see how you feel in a couple of days when you add another food. He gets headaches or sinus, flu-ish stuff. My son does that too. My son also threw up alot when I had him on gluten. He couldn't even go around the corner to the store in the car without getting casrsick then when I took him off of wheat gone in a snap. Hope it helps0 -
Nope, gluten is fine. I am pretty sure it's all of the nightshades (potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, etc.), got really bad hives from pimento peppers and any fresh peppers, dairy, almonds, walnuts, pistachios and intolerant to legumes.
We'll see what shows up on a test though, I'm hoping that some of these are just guesses and there aren't any other secret ones. It's a taken a lot of trial and error even to get to these guesses!0
