HOLY COW!!!

so I took my measurements last night because the scale is really not moving all that fast but I am starting to tell a diff in the way my clothes are fitting and I wanted to get more accurate with what is working for me, or what will work / has worked before. OMG!!!!! In 14 mos I've gained 10, yes that's right TEN, inches in my waist, FIVE in my hips and FOUR in the bust!!! Granted; I did just have a baby in January, BUT jeez!!! What is a realistic time frame for slimming back down with a good diet (WW) and regular exercise (the gym for cardio approx 4x a wk, maybe more) and 30 DS at home approx 3-4 days a wk (maybe more)??? I've always been active and fairly fit, so I have a hard time with being too hard on myself. I expect to see results quick with as hard as I work and even though I understand that results don't happen overnight, it's still hard to get that into my head! Any suggestions are very much appreciated!!!

I started with the same amount to lose. So far it is averaging out to a pound a week. Sure would love to see it go faster, but I figured it would take a year , and I can live with that.
Good luck to ya!!0 -
Hi I am also trying to lose my baby weight. Unfortunately, it took me 18 months to get motivated to really work at it. I joined MFP about a month ago and have lost 13 pounds so far, relatively easily. I've lost a total of 18 (5 before MFP) in about a month or so, and am hoping to lose another 20 in the next 2-3 months (fingers crossed!)
I'm doing cardio 6 days a week: I have an elliptical at home and will do that for 30 minutes, or I will go for a walk for 30-60 minutes. I typically burn around 200 calories a day, and will eat at least some, if not all, of those calories back.
I'm staying within my daily caloric goal (1200.) I'm vegetarian and eat mostly whole grains, fruits, veggies, nuts, and some cheeses. I haven't found it too hard to stay within those 1200 calories.
This is the first time Ive been overweight and have had to watch what I eat. Fortunately, MFP has made it really easy, and I've seen the weight melt off. I know you will too, if you stick to your diet plan and get in some exercise. Good luck0 -
Welcome! :flowerforyou:
If you are a computer person, I will venture to say that you are in the right place. Staying faithful to coming here EVERY DAY and logging in what you eat and how much you exercise (even if you have to guess-timate at times) will keep you on a steady losing track. I've been here 60+ days and I've lost 16 lbs the right way ~ no fad eating, no starvation or deprivation and with exercise. I have never been so encouraged. The first week or so, I lost about 6-7 lbs and since then it's been 1/2 - 2 pounds a week, give or take. Give yourself a mental pep-talk ~ this is a crock pot process, not a microwave ~ it'll be worth it if you do it right. You can do it! :happy:0 -
I'm more of a "welcome home" than a "newbie"....I've been using the site for almost 2 yrs but of course while I was pregnant, I didn't really care about what I ate, so was slack about all this. Now that the baby is here, I want this weight GONE! I've been back on for (hmmmmm) probably a month and a half or so and have been working my tail off. I stay within (or at least very close) to my calorie allowance every day and try to do SOMETHING everyday. My main problem, like I said before, is reminding myself that things won't happen overnight and may take me longer than it takes other folks. Since I started WW on 2/22 I've lost 10# but I really want to get that number (or at least my measurements) dropping FAST! (or at least a lil fast-er) grrrrrr.....just need a lil more motivation I guess. I love working out; I just hate to do it in front of the mirror! :noway: But I'll get there one day....and I'll bust my tail the entire way!0

I would say 1-2 pounds a week is a good goal. If you go too much faster you risk gaining it back when your diet is over.
Have you excersized at all? Maybe your inches creeping up have atleast a bit to due with muscles.
Best of luck and we're here if you need us!!0 -
sweetbn, my inches creeping up has mostly to do with the pregnancy. I just don't want to do like I did with my first and use "I just had a baby" as an excuse for being "pleasantly plump" for 16 mos! My baby is a lil over 3 mos old now and I have gotten back into the gym. Most of what I've been doing is lots of cardio (I had some issues after delivery (pelvic rhamytis) that has had me a lil scared to push it too much) but I'm trying to ease back into some weight lifting (at least body weight) with 30 DS and then want to hit up my boot camp class later this week. I'm hoping that that may help some too. I guess we'll see.0
