How many calories should I eat?

I've just gone onto an online calculator.

Most the time I sit around as I have a desk job. I exercise 6 days a week for an hour so I said I was of moderate exercise.

My BMR is 1414
My TDEE is 2192

Not really sure what they mean, guessing to maintain weight I would need to eat 2192. Based on the above and wanting to lose between 1 and 2 lb per week what should my daily calorie intake be.

Thank you

Your TDEE minus 20% is 1753 so I would start with 1500-1700? That's still above your BMR and a good deficit from your daily expenditure.

To lose one pound per week you would eat 1692 calories per day. For two pounds 1200 calories per day. For something in between, something in between those numbers.

Most people who do the TDEE method recommend TDEE-20% which would be 1753 calories per day, you would lose one pound per 8 days.

    Thanks for the help.

If I were to do say 1400 does that mean I would lose 1.5 per week? Read somewhere that if you create a calorie deficit of 500 a day that you would lose 1 per week. I think I need to gradually increase my calories because I'm still in the mind set that I need to eat less calories. Or would I still be under eating at 1400?

    Thank you again.

Net no less than 1414 calories per day. You should net your BMR everyday.

    I hate this advice.

    My advice is:

    Sedentary TDEE = 1700.
    TDEE - 20% is 1360.

Therefore, my suggestion is to net 1360 every day. Add exercise calories on top of that. So if you burn 300 calories on the treadmill, you will be eating 1660 that day. If you sit around at a desk all day, eat 1360.

This depends on how much you have to lose as well. The less of a deficit you will want to eat at.

Consuming your TDEE cal will maintain your current weight if you maintain your current activity level. Consuming your BMR cal will maintain your current weight if you are in a coma. So in theory, anything below your TDEE will result in a deficit which equals loss (as long as you maintain your current level of activity). I would guess that MFP would tell you around 1700kcal for 1-2lb loss each week. For me, and I have close to 100lb of untapped energy to tap, I stick to 1500ckal total, whether I exercise or not. My BMR is 1652. So far, so good!

My fitness pal calculated that I should eat 1200 and that I would only lose 0.8 lb per week. Not sure whether to trust MFP calculations. Tried it for a few weeks and didn't lose much. So on advice of others thinking of increasing my calorie intake to lose. Still unsure of this concept but worth a try :-).

I think the most frustrating thing about losing the weight or "loosing" the weight (because every time I've "lost" it, I always end up finding it, plus some of it's pals. Loose it-let it fry free and far from me!) is that the less you have to get rid of, the harder it is.
