So I've been really good at sticking to my calorie limit and eating well. Last Monday, I got on the scale to see I weighed 190, which is about 10 pounds down from where I initially started. I went out to dinner last Thursday and visited a friend at college from Friday night through Saturday night, so I may have gone over my limit a bit but I really didnt eat too poorly, and didnt binge eat or anything. I did drink though on Friday night. Today I got on the scale and it read 198 with clothes, 196 without. Could I really have gained 6 pounds over two days or is it water retention?
Also, when is the best time to weigh yourself/how often?

It's most likely water weight from sodium. Restaurant foods are loaded with sodium. Drink lots of water and it should be gone in a couple of days. Personally, I weigh once a week. Every Sunday morning. =)

Very likely water retention- especially with alcohol. At least for me, that always makes me gain water weight. Give it a few days to a week and it will be gone.

I weighed in on Thursday and was up 2 lbs due to water. As of today, most of it is gone.
