I have that problem. I'm hourglass shaped and so my waist is always smaller than my hips but overweight it's even worse! Right now I've found that there are a few brands that fit well. Apt 9 from Kohl's and the "sweetheart jean" from Old Navy (their sizes run a bit large, I was wearing a 10 there for a while and still a 12 in other brands).

It is a process to find well fitting jeans.

Lol... You don't have to tell me about it. I have about 18 lbs left to lose and I'm pretty sure that all but 3 lbs of that is on my butt. (Little bit on my arms still). I realized today exactly how disproportionate things are right now.

Losing from the top down? I did that, and went from being an apple to kind of pear shaped for a while. Now I'm what I was originally: a rectangle. I guess I must have gained from the bottom up, but at no point did I ever feel I was as out of proportion as I was on the way down.
