For those who don't know, a "herp" is a reptile/amphibian, as in "herpetology." Anyone with snakes, lizards, balls beardies leos you name it, post some pics! :drinker:

Traxx is a sunkissed cornsnake. (She just laid a clutch of 13 eggs today. )

LOL great, so this will help Google continue to associate these two words and 'correct' searches for 'herps' and 'herpers' ... "did you mean 'herpes?'"

Sweet pattern. I bet he's missing a checker or two up front. (It's a male, right?)

Yes, it's a male. My chick is the reptile one. I'm not sure about his checkers.

Napalm is the sire of Traxx's eggs up there. He's a sunkissed amel motley cornsnake.

  • Herpes [which I don't have] has one of my favorite etymologies. It literally means 'creeping thing.' My friends and I have been known to refer to herpes as 'the creepies.'

Anyways, I had a bearded dragon for a few years but when I moved I gave it up for adoption. So I hope I didn't flame your thread only with an etymology, as interesting as it was.

    Here's photon. He's a pueblan milksnake X cornsnake hybrid.

Any time I see people arguing over definitions of species, this guy comes to mind. His grandparents are not just different species, they are not even in the same genus. He is second generation too, showing that they aren't infertile like mules. (There are tons of multigenerational king X corn crosses too.)

oooooh. Photon is really cool looking. So, I take it you breed for sale? How/where do you sell them? Just at shows or word of mouth? I'd love a snakey snake. But not buying one from a PetSmart.

Yeah we breed for our own projects and then sell the extras directly to other hobbyists/breeders and at various shows/expos. We have a friend who does regular shows and sells them for us. I agree with not getting them from chain pet stores.

It is! 12 years of hatching them and I still get just as excited when hatching time gets close.
