I WANT A NEW JOB :grumble: :grumble: :grumble: :noway: :noway: :noway:

But where else can I go and make what I'm making now??

That's the question of the day.

I sit for 6 hours a day, the only movement I get is lunch and breaks when I walk.
Or I get wrist and finger exercise while typing all day.
I have started doing leg and feet exercises under my desk, but it is not enough.

I really miss being a teacher's sub for the 4-5-6 year olds...
That feels like it was eons ago!!!!

I was thin and swam all the time and ran and camped and hiked. You name it I did it. It was the bomb!!!

But then we tend to settle and closing in on 40 in a few years. I just want my self back!!!

Anyway, My job is so depressing. I wish one of the days, I could work for myself!!!

Or win the lotto, but wait, I have to actually play to win, right?

Yeah I know whine whine whine, but I don't think some, few, all, don;t realize that your job or professional carrerr could be one source in holding you back....

i started gaining weight right after i got my desk job. 6 years later and i'm 50 pounds overweight. it is hard to find ways to work in exercise during the day. i try to talk walks on my lunch, if i have time. i think the hardest part is motivating myself to workout when i get home. odd how tired i am after sitting a desk all day:grumble:

sounds like your putting a good amount of effort though. keep it up!

have you though about consulting? just about any job can be converted in consulting for that job. i've never met a poor consultant:tongue:

I hear ya. I work with kids and I never stop moving. I could never go back to a desk job. Could you sit on a yoga ball instead of a chair ... if your job will let you do that. I use one instead of a desk chair.

I run a child care business out of my home.:noway: Although I'm running around with the kids all the time, my issue is having the fridge so close at all times. When I had my desk job, I brought my food from home and that was it.
Since I've decided to stay home these past few years, I've gained on average 15 lbs per winter season. Being stuck in the house because it's so cold with 2-4 year olds is not easy and I used to turn to food for comfort (and still want to at times lol).
Thankfully the weather will start getting better soon and we will be able to spend more time outside.

I'm actually starting to look forward to going back to work outside the home again.

I know what you mean!! When I started my first "real" (salaried) job 6 years ago (straight outta college), I gained so much weight from being so sedentary. Plus getting pregnant three times, and just letting myself go did not help matters. It reached the point where I weighed 190 lbs (I'm short - 5'4") and my knees/ankles were bothering me - I was only 28 at the time, and said ENOUGH!

So, last year I joined Masters (it's like a competitve swim team for adults - we're talking about serious swimmers. RIght up my alley, since I used to swim competively in high school), and I swim every morning at 5:30 AM (get up at 4:30). I bring all my work clothes with me, and shower at the pool afterwards - heading straight to work from the pool. During lunch I try walk 2 miles at work, and on the weekends I take my oldest girls hiking. I'm down to 142 lbs now - need to knock off about 10-15 more lbs before I go into maintenance, but I'm not obessing over it. The best thing is feeling great - strong and toned. To "celebrate" a group of friends and I will hike Half Dome this May!

I still work a desk job - sit on my rear 6 hours a day, but because I made a shift in my lifestyle (waking up early and exercising 1st thing in the AM), I'm able to maintain my health inspite of my job. I also think about what I eat - trying to use more organic foods, less meat/processed food, and lots of water! I do eat what I want - have to have my dark chocolate everyday! - but key is to find a balance that works, and an activity you LOVE doing and fits with your life style (I always hated the gym - it just does not work for me), so be creative and be willing to give up some things (like sleeping in, lol) for your health. :)
