Hello MFP community! I am currently a small size 8 going into a size 6 and I have surpassed my original goal weight but I would like to be an official 6/8, lose a couple more lbs to be exactly 150 and most important tone up my stomach and legs because I am a pear shape. My boyfriend has decided to eat clean and I plan to join him and he constantly tells me that I should not live and die by calorie counting and that it is not all about that. I definitely do not feel a rush to lose the last two pounds and I feel I can relax more and focus more on eating clean but the structure of calories counting helps keeps me in check so I do not over eat. For those that are trying to maintain are strict on calorie counting? Do you consume your exercise calories? How many calories do you consume on average? I would appreciate any feedback.

Hi! I'm in maintenance and I continue to log daily. I'm really small and my maintenance calories are about 1600 a day - I could easily undo all my hard work in a short time if I don't watch it. However, I try to be realistic and allow myself a little leeway. During the week I hardly ever miss a beat and stay a little under my calorie goal. I don't always log on the weekends, and when I do I frequently go over but I still weigh and measure everything. Yes I log my exercise and incorporate those calories into my daily intake. Hopefully you'll find something that works for you. It sounds like you've already had lots of success. Congrats.

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate it. That is what I see. Most of my friends tell me that they focus more on eating clean and try not to go over 1800. I am trying to cut down to a cheat meal rather a cheat day but this Saturday I am not sure ha ha ha. Although as you said, for me cal counting does give me structure although sometimes it is frustrating but I fear if I just focused on eating clean and not cal counting I would gain. Thanks again for the advice it really helps.
