What is your family motto or rules to live by?

My husband and I have several things we tell our 4 children to live by.

One is Power, Love, Wisdom, Food, and Self Control.

Power (do your best in all things) Love (be kind to yourself, your family, and everyone you meet), Wisdom (learning is very important), Food (eat food that is good and good for you), and Self-Control (that before doing what you want, think about what will happen if you do it).

The second is "In a fight, never ever throw the first punch, but if forced into a fight, try to throw the last punch." We have told them (and occasionally school administrators) that they won't get in trouble for defending themselves against a bully.

I would like to hear what other people tell their children.

"Always put yourself in the shoes of the person you gave your heart to. That way you know how they feel and they can't run away with your heart cause they're barefoot."

"Never prove your case by starting all your sentences with 'YOU' - it puts them on the defense and is accusatory. Always say 'I feel', not 'You always'!"

"If you aren't willing to dedicate your life to our God, we have no place for you in our life. Wish you the best."
