  • I live in Japan... but I'm not sure that's what you mean.

What DO you mean, exactly? What is your diet?

Well, I had some friends move over to Japan and become a little fixated on Japanese lifestyle in general. I started up yoga a year ago, I read a few books, and we started eating Japanese food so much we now shop 80% at a Japanese Centre. I love the food so much I can't seem to stray a away from it for more than a couple of meals at a time LOL. I love making our bento boxes, I love making all my dashi stocks etc. I can't drink enough Miso. I love the tastes, the portions and that the food feels so clean compared to our normal western diet. But I do find that if I calculated my calorie intake, I barely reach my minimum MFP 1200 quota, I am somewhat struggling trying to even get close. I'm always way under.

    How's your sodium?

Sorry, the sodium in my diet? Way lower than the MPF guide :)
  • Yoga? Japanese? Most Japanese people don't even know what yoga is, haha. But I love it so I'm with you there.

As far as Japanese food being healthier than western food.. hrmmm reeeeeally depends exactly what you're eating. The Japanese diet features a lot of fatty meats (the more "marbled", the better, think wagyu)... lots of fried things (tempura, karaage, croquettes)... and lots of carbs with every meal, like the heaping portion of either white rice or white bread. Raw vegetables are almost unheard of... like people look at me like I'm crazy for eating raw carrots... since they either pickle or boil all their veggies here.

But if you're just eating a lot of miso and controlling your portions.. then sure, that sounds decent enough.

Love miso soup! I'd love to move to Japan (or atleast take a long vacation there) and try out a lot more of their food choices. Some does seem a lot cleaner, love me some sushi sooooo freakin much! But I gotta say, I do love some shrimp tempura!

I could live on Japanese if it didn't cost that much $$.
